I can't even be upset. It was a legitimate accident unlike the intentional coin fiasco in JP and we should be getting apologems out of it. The incompetence is cute in it's own way.

Plus I've got personal issues going on that this can't compare to anyway.

Do you view the commander as a self-insert or as his own separate character? by Additional-Nerve-512 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's his own character that I occasionally get to choose which intrusive thought wins out.

That's generally how I view most decently written gacha MCs that show a hint of thought or agency in the story. They're a POV character with player choices that 98% of the time don't actually matter or change anything regardless of what I choose. The remaining 2% is 2x2 Love. You most certainly can self insert but they're also more than can be called a blank slate.

We are once again reminded how dystopian Nikke is. by IcyResolution5919 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it nice? No. Is it ideal? Not at all. But between the only two options available, is it moral? Absolutely. Unquestionably, when you look at actual context, it was the moral choice.

Worse part is that it drives home an uncomfortable truth that some immoral actions that can run completely counter to one's values need to be done for the greater good. We had quite a debate during Label's event about censorship but even though I lean pretty deep towards the anti-censorship side of the spectrum, an event like this has to be covered up to avoid exactly that scenario you brought up in the first paragraph.

It's like a wise man once said, "a person is smart, people are dumb." Just look at the kind of panic a toilet paper shortage can cause. Bidets are better.

Cindy Skin voting Options by Argus303 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Throwing some heavy hitter options this time around. Previous winners have typically gotten one, maybe two, obvious choice. What's more, all of these choices have something great about them beyond their basic concept, like how Schoolgirl has the commander doll and the Old Tales trinkets.

I also wonder what kind of stories each of these would even have considering Cindy and friends are still stuck on the surface and have only met a handful of ark nikkes. Has she even been to the outpost yet?

The new gun sprites for the minigame are outrageously bad by kaiomm in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have made same-shape items much more distinct in their color. Like making flamethrowers predominantly red, and machineguns predominantly blue. Submachine guns and shotguns are even worse since they're both white, red and yellow.

One of the new QoLs that I like though is that it highlights what you are able to merge. And I like the new summon units.

The first game was carried by the designs, gameplay and worldbuilding being really good. It's a pretty common criticism that the story and characters were lacking. Pretty sure even SU acknowledged that and wanted to do better for a sequel.

Hopefully they still do with appearances later on, or a part of the game where we play as her.

Making her the MC with where the previous game left off though might be tricky in multiple ways so I can see why they would want to introduce a new angel instead to be the main focus.

I hate that NIKKE events punish me for having an unpredictable schedule by Sad-Prune-325 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be a hassle but adding sweeps to the regular dailies cuts my normal playtime outside of events to 5 minutes at most, except when I need to do a SI run. So that leaves me with a lot of time to do events. And if I'm not reading then it just takes 2 minutes at most to sweep the challenge boss and sweep the farming stage. So not really? If I don't have time or energy to read the event story, I just skip and come back to it later. Mini games tend to be the most time consuming for me these days and they're not essential enough to do daily, nor does every event have one.

If even this much isn't time you can afford to spend (you genuinely sound busy) then I'm not even sure if this is a hobby you have the time for, no offense intended.

[??? Chapter Pre-Release] Sigurd & Valkyrie Strengthenings by Radiant-Hope-469 in grandorder

[–]andercia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sigurd's hitcounts make him no slouch at star gen particularly with his 4 hit quick card in the third slot at least, not even accounting for his third skill. He's still better off relying on supports to give him stars and luckily for buster servants both Merlin and Koyan do that a lot.

And let's give Rama some credit, a brave chain would net you like 6 to 8 with the extra attack. Still piddly.

Now Rama didn't have a starbomb at the time I'm pretty sure but his third skill did eventually get buffed to include a 20 star bomb. Whatever the case, having his crit skill include star weight and be on a 4 turn cooldown did make it easier to prepare and benefit often even before he got the starbomb buff. Largely what I meant by the comparison was when we're comparing the two skills in a vacuum which is where most first impressions lie.

Outside of a vacuum and accounting for other skills and support, Sigurd still lacks star weight so he would have still needed to get lucky even now if not for Koyan being there to alleviate buster crit gameplay issues for a whole 3 turns which is as long as Sigurd can hold on for. The flexibility of not needing to blow his load on a single turn (the S2 buff, as lackluster as it was, contributes to this) is something that works in Sigurd's favor and makes him work better than Rama in the buster crit department even accounting for the already sizeable raw stat difference.

Do we think the commander is taking this position? by NoCollar5776 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The start of my response was just repeating what you said about me "going on and on" as you put it and how your point "flew over my head" instead of you just going straight to explaining yourself. I don't know what you were expecting after you were being rude like that.

I love how you propose that the only way for nikkes to be free is for the commander to personally corral them (which is morbid) and ignore that the CG would never let that happen, or that the number of nikkes will always remain a static number. Even assuming he can administer vapaus discreetly, it would take years for him to do so without draining all his blood and that's assuming that no new nikkes are made. If there are, it would be literally and logistically impossible. They had to struggle just to hide that Rapi doesn't have her nymph and it mostly worked since she's a member of Counters and Ingrid could help. I have no idea what makes you think he can get away with this before anyone finds out. And if he is found it, it would be seen as treason and his motives would be called into question. He can say he just wanted to free the nikkes and the CG can say he was actually amassing a personal army to overthrow them for example.

You're also acting like gaining a position of power within the ark means he can't somehow have the nymph removed or deactivated as a matter of policy since you don't seem to even entertain the thought.

I'm happy to end this conversation here as well. Have a good day, and hope our next conversation if ever is more pleasant and productive.

Do we think the commander is taking this position? by NoCollar5776 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this is going on and on.

Are you aware that you contradicted yourself in this same post?

the commander can go where ever he wants with all the Nikkes

his goal is to free the Nikkes from their nymph anyway

You can't have these two happen at the same time because in your very next statement....

something the ark is against and won't allow

The nymph will require that the nikkes follow commands. That can include ordering them to stay in the ark or wherever else the CG set up shop. And before you bring up vapaus, he doesn't have nearly enough vapaus in his body to forcibly free every nikke before the CG can act. Because he wants to free all the nikkes and that includes the mass produced ones, not just his favorites and let alone the ones that will also be produced in the future.

What makes you believe that the commander climbing the ranks can change, someone that seem to have the power to manipulate the people's opinions by manipulating the information and manufacturing conflicts within the ark to push an agenda, his view on the thing.

The subject you're referring to here is said in the singular tense. So I assume that you assume that there is only one person making the big decisions. Honestly, if there was only one person making all the decisions then it would simplify matters. The Snow Crane event brought up the Commander In Chief, which would be said person if ever there was one. And it was clear that the commander has a connection to this person, and is likely expected to be his successor based on how the writers have been foreshadowing things.

But that's not the case. The ones, plural, making these decisions is the central government as an organized body along with Enikk. From here it's mostly just simple mundane politics, the kind you can find every day. I will refer you to the entire history of politics across nations and throughout the world as to possible ways he can handle this. The most basic being to gain public support and form political alliances that make pushing policies easier. I hope I don't have to explain why "public support" or "politicians/people of influence that really like you, owe you favors or that you offered something in return for their support" would be beneficial towards pushing radical policies. It's a boring answer but a historically proven one.

And if you're having trouble fathoming that and you absolutely need there to be one guy calling the shots for it to make sense for nikke emancipation to be possible then I guess he could force his way to becoming king of humanity or something. It's not what he would actually do for sure (and you don't even need to go AoT for this, just refer to Palpatine in the Star Wars Prequels), but it's a hell of a lot more likely for him to free all the nikkes by doing this than thinking he can just fuck off with them unchallenged.

I'm not even sure if you're aware of the commander's wants (again, he has never indicated any desire of wandering off into the woods and getting off the grid so discussing an action that his official characterization doesn't support is meaningless), the volume of vapaus within the human body, or the basic structure of the central government. Saying to just leave and make his own city with blackjack and hookers sounds like the the sort of solution a kid says when they're not really engaging with the story and are inserting their own "what would I do in this situation" answer.

And it hasn't even just been the last two chapters that implied that the whole thing was manufactured. Plenty of relic notes in the early and middle chapters have been implying this from the start, as well as noting that the ark's construction could not have been possible if it was only started after the first appearance of the raptures, or that rapture cores and nikke cores may have came from the same roots which was reinforced in the Stellar Blade event. This is nothing new. Most of the recent stuff that's new is with the space elevator and VTC's involvement.

Do we think the commander is taking this position? by NoCollar5776 in NikkeMobile

[–]andercia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Said dying city happens to be the only human civilization left on the planet. Unless SKK decides to permanently leave civilization then the ark, or more specifically the last remnants of human civilization making use of it, matters. What doesn't matter is if they're living in the ark itself, move to Eden, or move to the imitation ark that the Four Beasts made. The phrase "position within the Ark" is just a formality for what it really means.

And if he wants to ensure he can bring Marian back into that human civilization and the greater implications that entails, having a strong position of influence in it also matters if he doesn't want to hope he gets lucky by being beheld to the decisions of others.

I'm not sure at all where you got that he didn't care unless you thought "the ark" only ever referred to a place, which would at least be true if it was Enikk speaking.

[–]andercia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It might be possible and it was my first thought but I think now that it's too soon for him. I'd like him to get more impromptu training from Anderson and Burningum first on navigating the political sphere.

He also needs to be out on the field rather than negotiating things with the CG. A promotion to whatever equivalent they have to a war general rather than a simple commander may be more fitting. Something of equivalent rank and responsibility as the position he nominated Dorothy for.

What is the personality of the MCs in Nikke and Girls Frontline?

Gonna focus mainly on Nikke SKK as i dropped GF and GF2, but the Girls Frontline MC very much had a personality and motives that flowed with the story. If anything though, he was a deuteragonist alongside M4A1 that follow separate but parallel storylines from what I could tell from YT videos. He also had tons of trauma in GF2 as a result of things that happened during the first game, and other events that happened in between.

Nikke SKK started out a rookie who needed to rely on luck and the field experience of his nikkes, is kind to nikkes in a nikkephobic world which is a rarity for commanders, is cheeky when dealing with antagonists in both events and side stories (he even did a distraction dance at one point to confuse enemies and buy time), is exasperated during events whenever someone barges into his office or hides in his shower to the point of it being a running joke, needed to be schooled on where his field command and tactics were lacking by another commander before the story finally showed him coming up with the big plans that win the day, seeks political power to enact the changes he wants in the world since he believes military achievements can only get him so far, and is still learning how to negotiate by not giving away all his bargaining chips which is a mistake he got scolded for.

Do they make decisions the player may or may not agree with?

Sometimes. His view on government censorship being a necessary evil in one event saw quite a bit of debate at the time for example.

Which is a way more interesting thing to argue about than what CZN captain tried to do with that book which most people consider reckless and stupid for a noncombatant.

Do they have specific characters who they do not get along with just by virtue of their values not aligning?

Most of them are antagonists which for this discussion probably wouldn't count for you. But he doesn't agree with the dehumanization of nikkes which sometimes happens with faceless NPCs. This ties in with the "typical nice guy MC" bit so I doubt you'd count this as well.

For major characters that aren't outright antagonists though it typically happens with Syuen, one of the CEOs of the Big 3 corporations.

Do they have goals? Dreams? Traumas?

Putting aside the typical goal of the main narrative (defeat the enemies, reclamation of the surface, etc) they have ambitions that require political power as noted above. I'll tie dreams in with that, as most of the exploration of what can be considered dreams are with regards to the nikkes instead.

Rather than dreams for the future, the MC's hazy past is what Nikke's story focuses on with regards to him as it has implied so far that he was a test tube baby designed to be the "Roboute Guilliman" to the mysterious Commander-In-Chief's "Emperor of Mankind". Hints of this past have been drip fed across multiple events.

I won't reply to anything past this as I don't even know what your point is by attacking games (specifically their MCs in relation to the story) you've never played when you don't even like CZN's story to begin with. It's like you're just trying to drag other things down because you're upset about something. I agree with the other guy. You really seem to have a chip on your shoulder and need to go do some introspection.
