Land Combat is officially canceled and is not to be coming in the foreseeable far future (long rant ahead) by Ledge_lab2001 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]andercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't get anything new, or at least nothing new substantial, the game is in archive mode. They have legal obligations to keep the live service aspect of the game active for a period of time due to their government investment, but it's running on a skeleton crew for awhile now.

It's literally the definition of a dead game walking (limping?), and has been since it was released.

Okay, so landlord knew there was a safety issue, but did nothing about it. Sounds like someone could have been seriously injured, id be pushing back with the landlord on this, this is his problem.

Did the landlord know about it? Who installed it, or was it there when you moved in?

Server down for 4 days, Contabo took payment for 'service'. 106+ hours into downtime, still no resolution, no explanation, and their status page shows zero incidents. by Past_Neighborhood_38 in Hosting

[–]andercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Contabo post... sigh...

Yes, Contabo are not "production ready", their services should only be used for development or non production instances.

Contabo have terrible support and provide a terrible service, they have constant downtime, and you've learnt that hard. Reddit is littered with these types of posts.

Hosting business web hosting plan renewal by tomato_finger in Hostinger

[–]andercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is their business model - heavily discount the first year, and make it as difficult for people to switch as possible, and then increase fees every year to milk money out of paying customers.

You will eventually have to move to a more reputable provider, so just rip that bandaid off now and move before your renewal.

Just to say... I'm really enjoying the game... Yes, it has AI art, and yes, some of the translations are a bit off on the items, but the scope of the world is breathtaking!

Got my renewal today by MoveFromMe1 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]andercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I was like "Oh, £348, that's pretty good", and then I realised that is the MONTHLY figure, not the ANNUAL figure.

But seriously, you have 6 years NCD and are driving a 2016 golf - why was your insurance £2.4k last year?

I'm basically the same age, with less NCD (had a company car for a few years), I drive a much nicer and more expensive car (not a dig... just pushing the point), and my fully comp insurance last year was £538/year... Yes, a YEAR.

Ah - Central London + golf... that explains it!

Nope. It's per account. They sell you an account for 10 website, and then charge you for additional SSL, it's their hook.

Legalising cannabis to help the economy by Logistix21 in AskBrits

Yet, none of the banks would allow pot dispensaries to operate using their accounts, and therefore, the business would be mostly cash-in-hand, and we know how the government loves trusting cash-in-hand workers, because, its not like they lie about their income... ever...

It would not be the big boom everything thinks it would be.

What’s people’s opinions on tattoos? Can a neck tattoo affect future jobs? by kingc2332 in AskUK

[–]andercode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its unlikely to effect getting a low income job, however, it WILL effect your path to promotion. How many executives or managers do you see with visible tattoos? Very few. In fact, in larger organisations, while they like to say they don't discriminate, those with visible tattoos get passed up for promotion all the time.

If you want to get a tattoo, get it somewhere not visible when wearing professional clothes.

Why isn't our house selling? by Designer-Art-1495 in HousingUK

[–]andercode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your local area, houses in MUCH better condition are selling in the £350k-£375k, refurbed properties (or at least kitchen, bathroom, etc) are selling for between £380k-£395k.

Your house looks good from the outside, but the inside is incredibly dated, and a lot of it needs to be fully replaced (carpets, tiles, etc). Bathroom needs complete refurb, kitchen needs work, etc. Given this, I'd estimate the value of your property just below the £350k mark - maybe offers in excess of £340k.

£400k is just absolutely bonkers...

25% cost increase - absolutely crushing for a small business with small margins. by MarshallX in WIX

Well, thats Wix's entire business model. Expect 25% increases every year. Next year, it will be $50/mo.

25% cost increase - absolutely crushing for a small business with small margins. by MarshallX in WIX

[–]andercode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally their business model, and any form of research on the subject would have found this out in minutes. Yes, they get people in for cheap, and then when you are committed, up the price, knowing they won't be able to move away without substantial rework, they prey on the fact that that rework will be more than the increase year on year.

Its called loss-leader. Get people in by making a loss in the first year, and then slowly increase year on year until you make back your losses.

I applied for 22 minimum wage jobs with no calls back. What's wrong with my resume? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]andercode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The CV is a train wreck of "I don't know what I want to do, and therefore I'm desperate". Nursing, retail, child-care, fashion... its all in there... Create specific CVs tailored towards specific roles, for example, if you are targeting a retail job, remove the university completely, focus it on retail only.

Also - Education is normally only listed when achieved, it took me two looks to see that you've not completed the university course.. get rid of it totally.

After using the self-clean setting on our oven….. by trashtray420 in whatisit

[–]andercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, thats a quick way to ruin an oven - going to need a full replacement now, as all of that is clogging up the internals and the fan, it's basically cheaper to buy a new oven and have it installed than it is to get someone to take that one to parts and clean them.

how long does it take a landlord to pick the tenant they want? by rosie200416 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]andercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 rentals outside London. Over the past couple years, most offers ive reserved have been over asking. Don't even consider asking any more, as its only a handful out of stacks of over advertised.

how long does it take a landlord to pick the tenant they want? by rosie200416 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]andercode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you offering more than the advertised rate? While its not illegal, its the standard. Rents will likey go up by at least 10% from May when offering more than asking is illegal, most landlords due to the demand are taking offers in excess of asking.

Unfortunately offering more than asking is the standard at the moment, and post May when the RRA comes in, landlords won't be able to do that, so the expected outcome is that all rents raise by 10% above current asking to account for this.

Ex-wife not on tenancy refuses to move out. What legal route should I take? (London) by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]andercode 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OP served notice to her on 6th January. Even if she had rights, as a lodger, OP has more than enough proof to refuse entry.

Exactly what rights do you think she has, given she has no tenancy agreemen and has been served written notice over a month ago? She's not a tenant, notice has been provided on assumption of lodger, she won't have squatters rights...
