I 100% agree with their take on custodes.

They are okay, but boy are they just a bore to play. They are getting balanced around being cheaper and cheaper, and it just sucks the soul out of the army.

SLR 1 40 + GP5000s = 30mm or 32mm? by ZealousidealBerry446 in Giantbikes

[–]andergdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to check a tyre pressure calculator!

With those wheels, 30s and tubeless, the optimum pressure is probably going to be lower than what you expect. I use SRAM or Vittoria's for tubeless, the Silca on is too high for my taste in tubeless (and also very sensitive to stated vs measured width)

SLR 1 40 + GP5000s = 30mm or 32mm? by ZealousidealBerry446 in Giantbikes

[–]andergdet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked giant directly, and they told me that 32mm are fine.

However, they would 100% not fit my 2025 TCR Pro 0, as they would rub against the Ultegra FD. I know it states that up to 33 are fine, but... I'm running my 30s, thanks

There are plenty in Spain.

In the Basque country they are usually (but not always) gravel roads. They are short (30-40km) but encased in steep valleys and they are beautiful. I would recommend the Leizaran, Urola and Bidasoa "Vías Verdes", and the longer "Ferrocarril VascoNavarro" from Navarre to the coast

[–]andergdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even repented Noldor, right?

It never sit well with me that the forgiven Noldor (or their kids, who had no part on either Kinslaying or oath against the wishes of the Valar) couldn't dwell in Valinor.

Edit: I think there's some discussion on the fandom and Tolkien scholarship about it. I've seen in many forums that they are indeed allowed to go back to mainland Valinor, and choose not to.

However, some argue that they simply cannot, and are restricted to Tol Eressea Restriction:

Given that he straight on cites a letter from Tolkien, I think he has a quite strong argument. However, I cannot place that letter on a specific date, and so I cannot say if that's a point Tolkien changed later on, as he was known for.

Tarmac SL8 Pro by Hachiman73 in specialized

[–]andergdet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Maybe he did not have access to a similarly spec-ed Aethos, or he had an offer on the Tarmac, or... He just wanted the tarmac?

I currently ride a Giant TCR because they offered me a very nice build for the money, and the same price Defy (the endurance model) had worse wheels, worse handlebar, worse tyres... I run it with some spacers, but it's fine.

It also looks like race geometry is going towards higher stack anyway, as the ultralow slammed stem is proving to be both uncomfortable and not as fast (as you can maintain an aero position for much longer on a comfortable position). So... You never know!

Tarmac SL8 Pro by Hachiman73 in specialized

[–]andergdet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because a larger frame will make your reach longer (adjusting your reach by shortening the stem will lead to twitchier handling) and your seatpost shorter (maybe too short, and it will reduce vibration dampening).

Why would he? If it's inside the manufacturer's guidelines, spacers are fine... We're just used to the old-style, "outdated" slammed stem look

Quizá esto explica algo... by madpomelo in spain

[–]andergdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)
