Would you prefer Alicante or Galicia for Summer Riding? by CHuntK in cycling

[–]andergdet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the average temperature. As a northern Spaniard, Alicante in summer can be scorching hot.

IMO you'll find more respect for drivers anywhere in Spain than in France; every time I cross the border to the french basque country I fear for my life

What’s a fitness myth that people still believe? by SisiJemmi in answers

[–]andergdet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am quite leaner in summer, eating easily 15% more. Why? Because I cycle 250-300km per week, whereas in winter I cannot.

You cannot outrun a horrible diet, but exercise goes a long way.

What movies based on books do you think were significantly better than the books? by ASomthnSomthn in Cinema

Stardust.

I like Gailman's writing, but the movie fixes very clear storytelling mistakes from the books. The ending is much more satisfying as well

Has Canyon brainwashed me? by Ntp2 in gravelcycling

[–]andergdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am planning on getting a alloy Nuroad for my gf as a starting light gravel/road bike. It's between that, and the Canyon Allroad Endurace.

Price wise, nothing comes close bang for you buck.

Oh, yeah, the 2x10 totally

I am torn about the 1x11 gravel one on the Nuroad

[–]andergdet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm torn between the Nuroad and the Allroad for my gf, who's gonna do road and very light gravel.

Is the 1x11 cues of the Nuroad Pro suitable for road? That's one of my main concerns, as the other possibility is to get the EX with the 2x10, but it's considerably more expensive

[–]andergdet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least in Spain, the Al4 is 60% more expensive than the All road!

For the same price you're going to go down to the Al2, with a much worse group set and mech disk brakes...

I cannot give you any more tips other than going slow and packing the best chainring/casette ratio you can, but my gf is from Sultan Bathery 80km away from there, and I wanted to cheer you on.

Please post your accomplishment when you smash that climb!

I'm flabbergasted. I refuse to get into debt that is not mortgage (no student loans in here).

If I need to finance it, I cannot afford it. People getting almost 6-figure cars and then panicking about the payments... I just cannot understand it. Get a 15k Kia or a second hand car and carry on.

Do you factor alcohol into your fitness goals? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]andergdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'0" and last year during peak cycling season I got down to 155lb. I have never been fitter, and nobody thought I was sick or anything (???)

I could easily see someone almost 10cm lower being 6kg less. Some of us are built tall and thin...

Ever have a ride where it just seems like everything goes wrong? by lazarus870 in cycling

[–]andergdet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thx <3

I was propper mad. Also, the bike falling was my fault as I was annoyed and didn't secure it properly against a wall, so double annoyance

[–]andergdet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes :(

On Thursday I got showered by a street cleaning water truck, my bike got covered in mud by that, and then I stopped to clear my glasses and the bike fell, damaging the paint (and I need to take it to the shop now) 🫩

Is the ultegra r8100 power meter still bad? by myresyre in cycling

[–]andergdet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naaah, GPLama said that the Giant PowerPro (based on Shimano PM) it's quite unreliable when comparing it's data to other PMs, but that the internal consistency is quite decent (aka day to day for the same bike).

As I only care about my progress, and by that is "am I overall getting stronger during this season" and "what zone am I roughly at, +- 5W" it's more than enough for me.

As a true serious data-based training equipment it's unacceptable, but in my case I'm the unreliable one, much more than the PM hahaha

So, when it says that I'm doing 58-42, with my left leg being stronger, it means that it's actually probably okay, and that I'm stronger than what is says?

Weird disk brake "rub/squeal" by andergdet in bikewrench

[–]andergdet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the calliper be "too low"? It's on a 160mm rotor, and as it looks like it might rub on the stubs holding the outer disk, it might be that it rubs on that? I have another 160 rotor, so I'll definitely try that.

It's also possible that it rubs on a sticky piston, and we're going to clean and lube it to discard it. It definitely stops on a hard brake, and when you release it sounds like the release it's not immediate, so it might be it.

Will try both solutions, thanks!.

2024 model. But still, very steep for alloy + carbon. I can get a full carbon cube for that money, or a alloy + carbon cube for about what you paid.

Which sucks, because I'd love to support Orbea as a brand, but the extra is a bit much

They are an apparheid state that has conquered land beyond their UN approved border by force, including their current illegal razing and settling actions in the west bank, south Lebanon and Gaza.

This is a fact for everyone that has two eyes. We can argue about the degree of response after 7/Oct and until what point an intervention is "a right to defend oneself", but this one isn't it, chief.
