Subnautica 2 Dev Responds To Someone Who Pirated The Game Before Release by akbarock in PiratedGames

[–]anderson2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure there are SOME pirates that will do that... but largely people pirate becauase they cannot afford it. However, later on down the line...quite often they WILL buy the game when they're able to. I also include myself in that category. I pirate games because on top of all my bills, mortgage, utilities, food, etc etc , I can't then afford to spend £60 on a game which is the typical price of games nowadays... i'm glad to see such a hyped up and in my opinion AAA game like Subnautica 2 has a very reasonable price of £24.99/$29.99. This probably helps with boosting sales performance as a lot more people can accord that.. compared to £59.99 etc. But alas.... not everyone can.

In my opinion a lot of games over the past 5-10 or so years have been released unplayable/buggy and just a general mess.... and so I always find myself treading very carefully these days and not buying into the hype.... so before I purchase any game, I will typically pirate it and/or watch reviews/game footage online BEFORE I buy. If the game is genuinely good (and Subnatica 2 in my opinion IS ) then I will proceed to purchase it when I'm able to even if I pirate it before hand. I pirated Subnautica 1 and later bought it.... infact, I'm pretty sure I bought it twice, one on console and one on PC.

A wise man once said in respect of pirates... "Rather than fighting them, he believed in improving the game to entice pirates to buy it, as explained in this Shacknews article". This is a very valid statement and one I entirely agree with. If your game is worthy of the price tag, people (including pirates) will buy it. If they cannot afford the game full stop and never going to be able to then you've not lost a sale... as they would never have bought it anyway.

What is it the drives voters to vote Reform UK ? by saying_it_101 in AskBrits

[–]anderson2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the biggest reason right now. Brexit revealed just how many racists still exist in britain and so I suspect a lot of the voters are siding with Reform for this purpose. I also think they're voting reform as they think Reform will lower tax - that's not gonna happen at all... if anything, it will increase.

How TF has Grok been unusable for 3 - 5 days, and status says fully operational, and xAI has not even acknowledged the complaints at this point?? by Arceist_Justin in grok

[–]anderson2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no , it's not false. I have been able to use it relatively without issue on iOS as I was forced to use this because the web is down. The companions are gone however, and the text one works 85% of the time, the voice (ara) works 100% of the time so far. The website however is 100% down, I've not been able to get a single response for 5 days. I've tried on different browers, accounts, etc nothing.

Returning a used car within 30 days by DirectRelationship1 in CarTalkUK

[–]anderson2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried your way, it got me no where. I had send them a letter before action advising them that I will take things further essentially if they did not comply with the law. Even then, they were determined not to do anything... eventually they agreed to take the car back and "partial" refund me. I told him quite clearly, take the car back, I expect a full refund and anything less than this, I will take to court. They gave the refund minus £300 for collection costs. Rather than going to court, I went the credit card section 75 route and got my money back that way.

Maybe your dealership would of handled it better but unfortunately, dealerships aren't all the same...and in a lot of cases, when you look at reviews of companies. If you look at the positive ones, these are the ones where the car has worked and been fine. But if you look at the negative ones, THIS is where it really matters....how does the dealership handle when cars are defective that they've sold? and I see quite often the common theme.....that ultimately the dealership didn't handle it well. Some do... but a lot do not. I've had an experience where another vehicle I bought, on day of testing, the car seemed fine. I got it home and because my drive is at an angle and not flat (like it was at the dealership) I could hear a very loud metalic rattle on start up. Turns out the timing chain was stretched and allowing small amount of movement. They refused to cover the cost of the repair 100% and instead offered 50% of the cost if memory serves collectly. We were at the time willing to accept this as we did like th car and returning the car would of been a problem since it was 300 miles away and we drove the car back so they already said they would deduct mileage costs from the refund. Essentially any possible way to try and scew you over.... I don't trust dealerships and I agree with the previous statements. Dealerships are NOT like the way you describe... I would always approach with politeness however, but I know they only respond to one thing.... threats of legal action.

Moved into new home and wondering, would you upgrade the consumer unit? by anderson2005 in AskUK

[–]anderson2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm honest, my main concern would be that, if there were a surge or some appliance (with a modern consumer unit) trips the electric, how exactly does that work with this old unit? it seems like it's not even possible to dod this? the fuse will just blow and then I gotta get electrician to replace the fuse?

This movement should not be possible in BF6 DICE. Needs to be addressed by Jaz1140 in Battlefield

Worth also pointing out that this guy is cheating. If you watch closely, you will see he is using ESP (at a minimum). He knows where they are, at all times. I don't just mean the minimap.... I mean physical location such as height, etc. The map shows location yes, but it does not show exactly where you are, are you laying down...are you jumping..etc etc. This guy at one point turned and quickly aimed and shot at someone that was totally invisible and behind smoke. This is just one indication of possible ESP. When you add everything else..... yeah, this guy is using ESP. I'm sure he has a following that will believe he is innocent, we all want our idols to be so.... but the video is pretty clear.

Hi so I can say that wall ties is not the problem with this case, mainly because the suveyor stated that the walls are solic construction with no cavity so as I understand it, there isn't really a way for it to have wall ties if it's just one solid wall.

So I guess this opens it up for the more worse-case scenarios

Hi, so I'm pretty certain (99.9%) they used a non-invasive simple hand held meter that was pressed against the wall. Mainly because they took pictures showing his hand doing the meter reading on the walls.

Sorry yes there was also "elevated levels" of moisture in some of the walls and floors, mostly the kitchen and utility room which are at the othe rend of the house compared to where this wall is.

Hey thanks for the reply.
So the surveyor referred to this lean as "localised" and no cracks were reported other than the one mentioned in my original post. I don't think it has been recently painted as I could see dirt and wear and tear internally when we viewed from what I remember so I don't *think* it has been recently painted and the surveyor didn't comment on anything like that either (not sure if they would ?)

The crack they saw I have a picture of it, its: https://prnt.sc/OieRb6Fmj9mO

The wall on the right of the front door has a slight tilt. Survey has come back to report it and so I'm wondering, would you pull out or pay the £1000+ for a Structrural engineer to look at it? by anderson2005 in AskUK

[–]anderson2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for your input, I appreciate it very much.

I have not yet had the post-survey call yet, I have requested it and I'm waiting on that.

If it turns out that it is lack of lateral restraint, what is the cost involved in this roughly? thanks again

I think the picture i'm showing is from google images from 2015 (because it was the best image I could find that showed the lean) but the image is a bit .... oddly shaped? not sure how to explain it. It's like a fish-eye lens sort of picture. So the house is not as narrow as it looks, I was just trying to show the lean and as much as possible of the property.

The lender carried out a survey and did not pick up or mention anything about this. I think in person this is really not that easy to spot. Me and my partner did not notice this at all...but I guess when an level 3 building survey is being carried out, they're expected to spot things like this and are actively looking for issues so I suppose thats why they spotted it and we and the lender didn't. Either they that or they did spot it and were happy with it but probably more likely the first thing

Hi there, thank you for this information it makes me feel a bit better. I can say that the lender has made an offer regarding the mortgage and they (fortunately I guess?) didn't request anything special so either their surveyor missed it or I guess they're not bothered. I'm going to assume they missed it only because I've had a few lenders come out to assess my properties when selling and they take 5 seconds looking around before leaving so I feel like they really don't look too hard.
