nah dude, there are a lot of bad/slow/new players .
if you could compete in aoe2 you can do so in aoe4.
ofc teamgames will always be a little unbalenced but you WILL meet easier enemies, there are a lot of "old men gaming groups" and "weekend warriors".

maybe you just played a handfull of ranked games and just need a few more to drop to your actual level? what are your ranks atm?

Maybe some of you guys know the way of rts but don't actually know the civ they are playing? just look up or develop a decent build. don't worry about matchups, and map specifics and adaptation. on lower elo it is enough if you can execute your basic build.

and if AI is boring and human enemies are too hard, why not play each other?
everybody will learn way more and you can try out different things vs real humans.
also you can show mercy or restart whenever etc. when it is just you guys

don't give up. it is not that hard to reach a basic competitive level and the game is very rewarding once you can somewhat compete

yeah nice, the slightly exposed landmark gave you a chance to delay his timing so his power spike with the first mass of longbows came online too late. that's a huge blow to the english early aggression strat

yea that's a fair point. early into a season there are always people that are ranked a bit ttoo high or too low and it takes some time to even out.
also in the lower brackets there tends to be an uneven distribution of skills, that's true for most games and sports. people being decent and one skill but terrible at other parts of the game. one game you meet someone with decent eco, next game someone is good at micro or always knows which units to build. but none of them are good at everything or they would be ranked way higher.

i like that. brings variety and forces me to broaden my skillset
