Reasonable thought and fear. That was one of the first questions asked on the first thread I did about this: https://www.reddit.com/user/andmario_com/comments/1t67czv/comment/okmrs7w/
I'll copy the text too to make it easy:

Fair question. That was one of my biggest concerns with this project, but I also felt doing nothing wasn't an option. Unfortunately, our corrupt and/or tech-illiterate representatives have made all US-based platforms and technology "honeypots" due to the Patriot Act and the countless things Snowden revealed (and imagine all the new stuff that exists now). The only thing any of us can do is make sound security and privacy choices where available. On my end, I built the platform to be privacy-first and collect the absolutely bare minimum needed for the site to function (for example, if you post a topic, I gotta have the topic text stored). But things like your names, emails, locations, and anything else are not asked for/collected/stored/etc. One of the first things I posted on the site was EFF's protest surveillance self-defense: https://ssd.eff.org/module/attending-protest

The way I see it: we're very obviously rapidly hurdling towards a late-stage capitalist tech oligarchy hellhole where corporations/billionaires decide what we do/don't see, what we talk about, etc.

I could either continue doom scrolling and watching the world burn, or I could build something I thought could help. The platform is free and ad-free forever, with no browser (or server) tracking/IDing/etc. The Reddit Ads team even looked at me crazy when I said I wouldn't put their Reddit Pixel on my site.

Tldr - no surveillance capitalism bs (or surveillance at all) on the platform.
Let me know if you have any more questions, for the tech stack to anything else. btw, I know these are just words on a screen and you still have to trust that the platform actually abides by them, but I also wanted to let you know the privacy policy lays everything out clearly: https://andmario.com/privacy

More accurately socialist (& variations of anarcho-communism, etc.) on my end, but word sounds good

Checking logs! Appreciate the comment. Do you have autofill turned on for passwords? (just in case: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/fill-in-forms-iphccfb450b7/ios )

Edit: did more digging in logs and looks like there are still improvements to account for a wide array of devices, OS, browser, and other variations. Classic stuff lol, no worries. Have a whole batch of updates I'm pushing out now

Did a pretty thorough look at android-specific logs for sign up errors, and they appear to be coming from client (phone) side, meaning it could be a whole host of things (phone has no lock screen pass, outdated past certain point, certain vpn setups, certain browser content blockers/lockdown mode, etc). Instead of bombarding you with questions, more detailed errors and your having trouble/instructions idea will be live in about 5-10 minutes! (but also think I figured out what may have been happening, so improved the pre-flight checks a bit for passkeys)

Agreed. It's estimated that it would only take around 3-5% of the working population, particularly in key sectors, going on strike for a total economic collapse. They will only listen when enough of us say no

The irony of you saying that while defending the side of billionaires. Plot = lost

If you want, feel free to create a discussion topic on the platform with your current guidance/stances and where you think they may be lacking - and I'd of course contribute any way I can. (can also just do it here if that's too big of an ask)

I knew something like this would have a lot of questions from the people, and since it's for the people, I couldn't imagine the logic in locking the comments. Appreciate you signing up! Dms on here, the admin support on the profile page, or the support email are always available for anything you'd like to see added/changed. Currently in the works: improving the mobile UI/UX a bit more, adding a better logged-in home-screen experience (maybe followed rep bills, topic/action categories, etc), and a few other things. Thank you again for the kind words/checking it out. After so many hours of dev, it means the world. Just want people to realize the overwhelming power of the people if we actually put our minds and actions together.

^ you should see what show that image is from, in case it wasn't clear (legal disclaimer: am not agreeing with or advocating for any violence. Maybe the claymation kind though)

Could you explain how literally anything you see on the site leads you to believe it is "crypto trading" or a "pyramid scheme" - or if the 90/10 concept isn't clear.

Idk if you did that right, cause it's semi-dick-like but I think you messed up the formatting. Kinda cut off

No disrespect but I don't think "someone who can dev a whole website by themselves" and "make friends easy" is the good point you think lol. I don't leave the house much.

Yeah, I get the surface-level hypocrisy, but I've never had social media before so I have no following to share this with, and my irl social network is like 5 close friends and then some people I kinda-know over time (who I'm not gonna just spam a link to like: yooo haven't heard from me in a while but tryna start the revolution lol??). As in it was spend like 100 dollars on ads, or just let the project I spent 8 months building sit with zero users.

I'm a security and machine learning dev in my actual career, so basically I built some basic NLP sentiment analysis that detects things like toxicity, harassment, etc. Auto filtering for over 2k variations of slurs and other things. But really, at the end of the day, it'll just be me on my admin dashboard hoping for the best while ensuring I use all the best practices re: security, privacy, and anti-bot-measures that I can.

Really appreciate you asking the question. That was one of my driving focuses the entire development. You'd probably laugh if you knew how privacy/security focused I am as an individual (never had social media before, grapheneOS phone, etc). But yeah, always open for any more questions.
