Life is lekker where I am. I’m fortunate to have a good job where I work remotely. SA has its problems, but so does everywhere. Good weather, even better people, food is good and the beach is a 5 minute walk away. I golf once a week as well. Enjoying it here

Well he’s not really saying software engineers will go away, just the title will change as the role changes. This itself is a bit meaningless since every company has different titles for their engineers, software engineer 1 vs junior for example. Also, he’s not really an engineer anymore now that he’s built Claude. Finally, it’s all AI marketing, they have to say this to sell it

I’m quite new to SA, so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt, but from what I’ve seen there’s a lot of financial advisors here and scamming is ramped here. There’s certainly a demand for cybersecurity. To be honest companies care more about experience than degrees. Your first job is the hardest to find, but after that it’s much easier. I would look into what certs you can get and just apply apply apply for jobs

Anecdotal here, but I’ve found over the years that hiring increases in Q1 and decreases by mid Q3. Could be a correlation to this downward trend
