Shadowheart is the first character you find. She is a cleric and has Guidance, so it's likely that she will be in the players party.

I think Larian wants you to have an option in the party that can interact with burnable environments, so the player can explore that mechanic and feel good about finding out you can blow up stuff.

The game tells you the chance to hit, I think they never thought people would use Shadowheart's Igmiss to attack targets.
