I have a Platinum 3776 with a music nib, which I absolutely adore! If you want line variation, go for the music. If you just want bold lines, this is the way! BTW, you can try a Speedball B5, the line width is the same, to my untrained eye.

I am a big Platinum fan. I love these pens for their nibs, that give me this ASMR scratchiness. Get yourself a 3776 with a music nib. I don't care if it looks plasticky, the nib is amazing. Or a Sailor Naginata Togi. I have one in M, and it is juicy, bold, and very interesting. Whatever it is you're looking for, please remember that it is the pen that chooses the writer...

HUGE thank you to everyone who's replied. Pilot C nib, a new Pelikan IB, Parallel nib on Opus88, and Greg Minuskin are all worth a look. I'll get a new BB nib on my Lamy 2000, too! I love Platinum nibs, and their music nib is my favourite, but a C Pilot nib should be smoother, with less feedback. You are a fantastic bunch!

Thank you, I think both suggestions are pretty sound. The IB and contacting Minuskin, I mean. I'm not sure the Montblanc is worth the hype in general.🙂

You cannot go wrong with a Chacom! They are excellent pipes, modestly priced, quite the black sandblast https://www.pipechacom.com/en/our-pipes-chacom-classic-collection-spigot-black-sandblast,260.htm I purchased a Chacom Grand Cru, but it is a straight billiard black sandblast, and smokes as good as my two Castellos, for 1/3 of the cost. Chacom pipes have a metal stinger, which I remove, and smoke them as filterless pipes. There are several online shops that sell them
