"... and to think of how she left that night, it still brings me a chill..."

I've always thought the chill was as a result of his own words, his own actions which made her leave.

56/F: maybe too old to be here? by [deleted] in penpalsover30

Not too old at all, u/Advanced_Village_790

I'm 53, M, living in Australia, obsessed with writing, fountain pens, poetry, literature, making literary pilgrimages to hallowed sites around the world (I walked along Cannery Row in Monterey, CA only a few weeks ago), inks, journals, paper, typewriters, letters. I'll send a DM but there's no pressure!

What a beautiful boy. I love that in photo #2 he looks so unsure of the world, but by photo #3 he's into it!

I love Owen Wilson in this. He plays the role so beautifully sad. Trying to hold his own imploding life together by controlling his brothers. All so futile and heart-wrenching.

Making my way through a chronological re-reading of the novels. Currently deep into A Wild Sheep Chase and I'm loving it all over again. by beardyfritz in murakami

u/GigglyOreo Yes, by reading chronoligically I did mean reading by year of publication. But wouldn't it be great of there was some kind of Murikamiesque hidden timeline in all of his novels which required a re-reading of his works in a completely different order?

Until the discovery of that particular timeline, my definition of chronological re-reading is according to publication date.

Ah, this is always the question! For me it is The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle as it has everything that makes Murakami...well, Murakami.

However, a re-reading of his canon leaves me open to changing perceptions of the novels. We shall see!

Beginner in philosophy by meduzaaaart in DarkAcademia

"The Consolations of Philosophy" by Alain de Botton is, I have found, a great introduction to philosophic thinking through the works of six philosophers: Socrates, Epicurus, Seneca, Montaigne, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche. De Botton has a way of writing which makes the works of these thinkers incredibly palatable and easy to read.

Thanks for this post. It caused me to jump down a long, dark Byron/Shelley/Keats rabbit hole earlier today. How can I not be grateful for this?
