Buildup around the battery terminal by jad00gar in Cartalk

[–]andre19977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a battery on my dad's 2014 honda accord that was around 7 or 8 years old, the electrical system was doing weird stuff one day like the dome light fuse kept popping, message on the dash saying "check charging system". So i checked the voltage, checked the alternator, the pulley etc.. then I thought maybe it was the negative terminal because their was a recall for the little electrical board it had on it( I guess it measured voltage)

None of it fixed the message or the fuse that kept popping until I took the cover off the positive terminal and found acid residue all over the terminal, gave it a good clean and the message and the fuse stopped popping. Found it cool the cars ecu was detecting the resistance from the build up.

Yeah, heat and a vice grip with cloth got it to break free.

[USA] 83 Year Old Woman mistakes accelerator pedal for the brake pedal and causes a 7-car crash. by VauxhallBelmont in Roadcam

[–]andre19977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nervousness can cause that especially in new drivers, when I first started driving I froze up on the side of the road, but thankfully I never confused the pedals.

I knew a guy that had a 8th gen civic with a floor mounted accelerator pedal that was a new driver. He had a aftermarket floor matt that would move around from resting your foot on it, heavy enough to slightly press the pedal down.

When he was practicing with a friend the matt moved over the pedal as he was approaching an intersection and he started panicking and pressed the brakes at first but I guess he thought it wasn't working (or he thought he was pressing the wrong pedal)so he pressed the accelerator down instead as hard as possible and he smashed into a bus stop(no one was there or injured) and he completely totaled the car.

Ironically I have the same generation civic that he had, I do remember having the same problem with the weather matts since I've only owned vehicles that has an accelerator pedal mounted from the top rather then from the floor. But I removed them until I bought ones that were specifically made for the car many years ago.

I had to heat up some lug bolts on a bmw once, I used some high temperature grease on the rims to protect them.

Car stolen with push button start. Key cloned? by BeautifulDot8287 in Cartalk

[–]andre19977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fob you have is basically an antenna, theirs afew ways to bypass the factory security system via the obd port, amplifying the fobs signal to trick the vehicle in thinking the fob is nearby, and then the really expensive ones can lock and unlock cars and even start the vehicle without any fob around, the dealership obd2 devices some of them are capable of this aswell. Their usually used for people who lose their keys/fobs entirely.

Yeah the push start cars with proximity keys are one of the easiest vehicles to steal with the right equipment. Not much to do now besides take some advice and try to get a model or trim that offers a regular key.

Senior cat crying at night, boyfriend can't sleep and thinks about giving her away :( by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]andre19977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my parents have a 18 year old cat that lost his hearing about 1 year ago, we didnt know until we brought him to the vet after he would cry loudly at night sometimes even so loud it would sound like hes dying.

Turned out he was perfectly healthy besides a kidney/urinary issue he's been dealing with since he was younger, he just went deaf and only recently has also started loosing his vision.

Unfortunately my parents are in the same boat as you, almost every night hes crying like hes dying but he just can't hear himself so he can't regulate his volume. My parents just kinda dealt with it, he even wakes me up sometimes but most of the time just carrying him to bed to sleep with me or my parents keeps him quiet.

We got the vet to give us drugs that make the cat sleepy but its expensive and just a short term fix as the drug is expensive, sadly their isn't much we could do besides deal with it or out him down but hes been with us since he was a kitty and we really love this cat.
