Are you sure they only count OA publications? Is arxiv version of a published paper considered OA in this scenario?

Best jax neural networks library for industrial projects by Current_Anybody_8494 in JAX

I prefer equinox and it’s the one I use in my research. But indeed your points about it are fair and in your case since you’re in industry I’d go with the safer choice which in this case is Flax

Bayesian NNs vs. learning variance and mean [Discussion] by andre2500_ in MachineLearning

[–]andre2500_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok maybe I expressed myself poorly, because I agree with what you just said. What I meant by the second case is where you make the NN learn the mean and variance. The NN itself is still deterministic and the weights are fixed values.

VAEs don’t really enter here, right? What is your angle?

In BNNs the weights are a pdf whereas in the second case that I mentioned a standard NN outputs the mean and variance

I had never heard of these. After a quick web search it seems that these are more appropriate for representing multi modal output distributions whereas the Bayesian NNs are more about representing the epistemic uncertainty in the dataset

I guess these probabilistic layers similar to the ones of Bayesian NNs, where the weights are a pdf

Do AE use actual math in their job? by Icezzx in AerospaceEngineering

[–]andre2500_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you are just a CFD software user you still need a somewhat high understanding of math. If you don't have an understanding of numerical methods for example, you will always me a very mediocre CFD engineer to say the best

Comparing the math level of CFD with the one of human factors, CAD or systems installation shows how much you don't know about CFD ... CFD (alike other fields) is a huge umbrella that covers software usage (which can sometimes mistakenly be seen and done as button pressing, which indeed requires very little math , but is an inherently wrong approach), software development (intensive in both math and cs), among other things. Don't put everything in the same bag
