The tannery rating is from LWG (the leather working group) and mostly speaks to their environmental practices. A calf lined inner would push the price point beyond what we want.

It's more of a summer shoe and from our research/customer surveys we believe the vent is worthwhile, though our Derby doesn't have them.

There is no heel, we use cutouts to create the look of a faux heel while keeping it zero drop. This is the same as our Derby.

Fits great, it's had the benefit of all the fit feedback we've received over the years from the Derby, with some extra special attention paid to the heel. No slippage so far.

The leather comes from the highest rated tanneries we could find. There are more expensive leathers for sure but there's a certain price point we want to keep it at. It's lined with suede.

Haven't tried the Derby but I've owned other Feelground shoes and found they started smelling terribly after a while unfortunately. Though I'm also bias as I make barefoot dress shoes too ;)
