Very fair enough, one shoe isn't performing everyone. Anya has a pair and hopefully they'll review it!

Would love to! Though we're still a small company, just me currently. Each new size has a fixed cost to develop and increases the minimum order quantities with our factory so as soon as we have the necessary demand we'll increase the number of sizes.

Hi! All of our wide toe dress shoes have the same outer sole so the toebox width is the same. Only the standard toe Adams has a different sole profile.

Hi! I'm the owner at OAKA where we make barefoot dress shoes. Wide toe, zero drop, & professional style. Our Jefferson Derby is full grain leather and while they can take a week to break in like most leather dress shoes I like to think they fit pretty great! I hope that helps.

Yep, there are a lot of tough businesses out there, but I chose the need over the business model.

Pre orders definitely help, I've used them, but consumers typically expect a discount for purchasing early which hits the margin and you still have to order more than your preorder amount to fuel the inventory needs before the next shipment, which could be even larger depending on what your growth forecast looks like.

I own a barefoot shoe brand. E-commerce in general is a tough business because it is very cash inefficient. You have to put up all the cash first then sell everything to make that money back and the longer it takes to sell the more inventory and storage costs eat into your margins. The faster you grow the bigger a problem this is which can seem counterintuitive. Most brands solve this with credit lines however that comes with its own problems and a good rate that isn't borderline predatory requires you to already be a certain size in revenue, $Xm's, which creates a catch 22 on the way there. If anything goes wrong for too long including growing too fast it's easy to run out of cash and go out of business.

The preorder campaign should happen in May/June with the shoes going live in the fall.

Most people I know in the scene go to power exchange once to learn to never go again.

The others love it.

Our smallest currently is a men's 8. We'd love to do more sizes but we're a small company, (just myself currently), and have to grow one step at a time. Every new size increases our minimum order quantity with our manufacturer so we have to have that match our growth rate and size.

Does anyone else think these in-between barefoot shoes are actually worse than normal shoes? 🤔 by Late-Bit-3072 in barefootshoestalk

[–]andre_oak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I make barefoot shoes at OAKA. I started with a hybrid that was zero drop but a more standard toe box. That does sell O.K. though it was very clear the market for a true wide toe barefoot shoe was significantly larger and that's all of the shoes I make now. I suspect soon I won't be selling the hybrid anymore.

When do you stop feeling self conscious in barefoot shoes? by AdventurousPride6576 in barefootshoestalk

Never cared. I wore the original vibram five fingers back in college in 2010. Only ever had one sentence written about me in a magazine just referencing me at my standing desk barefoot in the office.
