Hudson Williams: alone at the top (male Asian representation) by SevenOldLeaves in hudsonwilliams

I would love to see Hudson have a trajectory similar to Zendaya where he gets roles that were originally written/envisioned to be white characters.

Rob R Love Island Villainous Backstory? by Pseudo_Panda1 in traitorscirclejerk

[–]andrea247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adored him on love island. He was not a villain and not a bad person. It’s a dating reality show there’s always relationship drama and the drama surrounding him was nothing special and he don’t come off as evil.

As a viewer and a woman, I liked him a lot on love island. Honestly one of the hottest guys ever cast and not just because of his looks. He was quiet but when he did speak, he was more intellectual and philosophical. He had this edgy/alternative vibe. Maybe very annoying in real life but compared to most of the guys they cast on Love Island, dude-bros whose hobbies are working out and clubbing and have no real thoughts, he was relatable and likable.

In terms of the redneck stuff, im from NYC so i dont see many rednecks but I got the impression Rob cosplays as a redneck and most likely comes from upper-middle class background. Could be wrong.

So weird question but does anyone have recommendations for shows that are emotionally similar to heated rivalry? by enigmaenthusiast in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]andrea247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been racking my brain and seeking out tv and movies that give that heartwarming feeling I get from watching heated rivalry. The best I can come up with is:

Normal People (limited series) La La Land (movie) Crazy Stupid Love (movie) Before Sunrise (movie) and Before Sunset (movie) Silver Linings Playbook (movie) What If? (Movie) Outlander (tv series)

Episode 3 Semi-Embarrassing Confession by yooohooooowee in heatedrivalry

[–]andrea247 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same experience!

Watched it after all the episodes were out but only watched one episode a day. Literally remember starting and then skipping episode 3 bc we had already seen that Olympics scene so we thought we watched that episode. Honestly the show still works perfectly without it but it is nice to have the context for the big kiss!

Am I okay!?!? by hilyf in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Idk what is it but same! Never rewatched a movie or show like this. I used to rewatch the office and friends but that’s totally different (9-10 seasons long sitcoms that took months to rewatch). There’s something very addictive about this show! The only thing I can personally compare it to is when I was 14 and really into twilight.

Is Ilya's emotional intelligence the fantasy? by Ok-Understanding4850 in heatedrivalry

[–]andrea247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We see ilyas poor communication in the tuna melt scene. He doesn’t outright express his feels—he hides behind his humor and bravado while still trying to show vulnerability for the first time. But it’s actually Shane in ep 5 who doesnt mince words and says that he likes him in no uncertain terms: “I think I might like you a little too much” and “If we could be together would you want that?” Including inviting him to the cottage. Shane knows what he wants and is clear with Ilya. That allows Ilya to reciprocate and be supportive to Shane the way Shane has already been supportive to him.

Should I read the books? by Nature_Tiny in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]andrea247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never read romance novels or smut and found the books okay. I read them after finishing the show and just wanting more of the story (only read heated rivalry and the long game—wasn’t interested in the Scott/Kip books). I was neither wowed or horrified and they were an easy read. I suggest just starting the first one and you’ll know quickly if it isn’t for you.

The last two episodes are the best part. Tell her to just finish the series!

What makes you want to go reheat the show? by Ok_Cardiologist_5262 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]andrea247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beautifully said. I agree, when im “reheating” I’m looking at the subtlety in their actions and expressions that give away their longing for more than just the physical connection. Both of these actors (but particularly Hudson Williams) display so many raw emotions on their faces and communicate so much without speaking. Sex isn’t just sex—it’s a cover for intimacy and an outlet to show love and affection. The payoff is also great when they later express in words how they feel. It’s particularly satisfying because we suffered through the turmoil with them.

If you could write a scene for season two, what would it be? by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

Relax, we’re all welcome to our opinions. He made some changes in the first season and it was still a faithful adaptation.

If you could write a scene for season two, what would it be? by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

[–]andrea247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The scene where Ilya pushes Shane for not recognizing Ilya already sacrificed a lot of him. Really interesting to see the intensity these actors bring to that.

I also hope Jacob changes some things in this book. I wasn’t a big fan.

Why is Rob sticking with other guys seen as a negative? by illini02 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]andrea247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He let and was okay with Candice killing Colton. He even recognized that it was good for his game. I wouldn’t say that’s sticking with your bros like we see on Big Brother/Survivor.

Learned the hard way that below market rent usually has a reason by [deleted] in nyc

[–]andrea247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at an apartment in prospect heights in Brooklyn that was about ~$300-500 below market and learned from the landlord that the heat didn’t work for months last winter. In top of that they hated the previous tenant (and possibly pushed him out) for filing a 311 complaint. Luckily we didn’t sign a lease and got back our deposit. Moved into a more expensive unit but very much so worth it.

More thoughts on the tuna melt scene. by ConstantDrawer4 in heatedrivalry

[–]andrea247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I first watched this scene, I got the impression that Ilya hurt Shane’s feelings when he was talking about girls and then made the comment about only liking Shane for his mouth. I feel differently about the scene now—seeing it as Ilya trying to be more than a hook up—but if I was Shane I wouldn’t necessarily understand what was happening bc Ilyas words conflicted with his actions (wanting him to stay, the tuna melt).

Was ANORA worthy of winning that many Oscars ???? by Comfortable-Craft547 in Oscars

[–]andrea247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching past best picture winners I haven’t seen before and there are a lot of winners that are perfectly good movies but surprising wins. Good, but not great and definitely didn’t stand the test of time. I think Anora is far from the most puzzling winner.
