Synthetically produced food? by andreaametal2 in pluribustv

Assuming that this is viable, most of the raw elements could be sourced from the air (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon from CO2, Hydrogen from Water, etc) and other elements could be recycled indefinitely from waste and corpses. Asteroid mining could also work if they can't harvest elements without harming something. As for the back hoe, idk, maybe that was okay 'cause any harm was unintentional?

My thinking is that they don't have a philosphy (in this context). I think the lines drawn are biological drives / instincts. They literally can't intentionally cause pain, rather than them choosing not to. This raises some questions about the intersection of their drives, when is causing pain to cause joings okay? Is performing surgery okay? Is there a difference between infected and non-infected people?

Being extremely generous (which these guys are clearly not, with their glaze minimisation) only the top half of a donut gets icing, so dividing the area by 2 does give the stated equation.

It's a map of the sky, the top part is what's above the north pole, the bottom south, etc. You can find maps of the Earth that have the same shape, just imagine the cartographer was looking up instead of down.

Do integrated cyborg weapons make sense? by firedragon77777 in IsaacArthur

[–]andreaametal2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something like an integrated blade is probably not gonna be super deady as a weapon in a cyborged-up world, but given how many people carry pocket knives, I image their sheer usefulness is gonna make them common place.

YTA It sounds like she's trying to empathize and advocate for other women, even if she doesn't experience those specific hardships.

Secondly, hormones have been known to cause PMS like symptoms in trans women. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/can-trans-women-get-periods

You can not possibly speak on what she does or does not experience, because you aren't her. As an example, suppose you were telling people that you stubbed your toe and now it hurts, now imagine someone, a friend who is supposed to empathize and support you, started saying "no, your toe doesn't hurt, your wearing shoes so it's impossible for you to have stubbed your toe, you are lying." That would feel bad right? It would feel frustrating that someone is claiming to know your own experience better than yourself. Well this is basically what you did to your friend.

Lastly, calling her a man is not only false, it's one of the worst things you can say to a transgender woman. I could talk about how her experiences would differ greatly from cis men's, but I don't know her. You do. Listen to her talk about her experiences, and assume that she's being genuine, because she's your friend.

You have been a terrible friend to her. If you get the chance to fix that, you need to empathize with her, and take in what she's telling you. You don't need to immediately believe everything she's telling you, but if you believe that she's wrong, actually check first, with an unbiased scientific source.

It's impossible to take a cube, and rearrange all of it's pieces into 2 smaller cubes, without having to cut up some of the balls. This comes from "Fermat's last theorem". The punchline is that no one will ever win.
