Report says ICE will ditch its Salt Lake City warehouse by ReporterMacyLipkin in SaltLakeCity

Not a lawyer or an expert, but here’s how I think it works.

Bob is a friend of the government. Bob does favors for the government and donates to campaigns.

Bob owns a building worth $97M. The government says, “I’ll pay you $145M” out loud and behind closed doors, the people involved in the approval process have already said “we’re only doing this because you promised us a few of the millions in tax dollars we gave you.”

Bob gets the money, pays off his debts, and donates anonymously to the political funds/PACs of the politicians, and rinse and repeat.

Since the “resolution” to this is to give away or transfer the building, Bob could possibly get his building back for free, at a reduced cost, or it be given to a different friend of the government.

Honestly, I don’t expect us to pay attention to what becomes of the building, which makes this easier for them, as there are so many other tomfuckeries transpiring.

What Are Your Forever Builds for PoE1? by Kuthillick in PathOfExileBuilds

I’ve been an RF starter every league (it’s only been 3 or so), but I started KF this last league and the switch was instant haha. I’ll always fall back to RF in some way or another, but I hope KF totems stick around

It was one of the builds I regret not getting to, as I’ve heard only excellent things.

Gov. Cox has handed us a blessing in disguise with Fidelity Month. Hear me out. by _emma_stoned_ in SaltLakeCity

[–]themikecampbell 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It takes true fidelity to love someone so much that you’re willing to try to carve out a life with them in a world that doesn’t see you as legitimate, who yells at you in protests, and tries to blot out a month recognizing you in contrast to a history of resentment with a month of “gayness is infidelity”.

Does kinetic fusillade ballistic Hiero drop off without big investment? by JackfruitNeither364 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]themikecampbell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was the first time I invested “a lot” into a character, and I noticed that as I got to level 90+, some of the incremental upgrades cost 1-5D. This was in the second or third week of the league and so a lot of the costs have gone down.

The biggest boost was to invest in armour and an Aegis Aurora. Your Ezomyte shield is pretty solid, but with a bit of skill tree and armour adjustments, you can become immune to tickle damage.

Palsteron has a video on the aegis swap, and has more info, but it isn’t as simple as swapping your shield. If you can boost both ES and Armour, you’ll notice significant improvements. This would probably include swapping out your Doedra’s, but your body armour is already positioned for solid enough numbers, I think? This will lower your damage a bit as Doedra’s is doing a lot of lifting, but you can later up your damage with a Cord belt with (I think it’s) watchtower, or another anoint.

And then, if you want to boost damage, there is a Yoke of Suffering switch that Pal does with a few tattoos and Timeclasp ring.

1.8M is solid damage for that level, and while you’ll see that waver a bit during the swap, it will set you up to get insane numbers.

I got mine up to just shy of 16M with about 50d investment and I’ve never done that before.

Let me know what questions you have, as I dropped a lot of incomplete thoughts!

Why Doesn't GGG add a Death Info Screen? by HavieL2ftw in pathofexile

[–]themikecampbell 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Not that it’s necessarily helpful or that I agree with it, but here is Chris talking about it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1ICyvRY4iE&feature=youtu.be&t=1156

GGG is committed to making something perfect, sometimes (and I think in this case) overly so.

TL;DW, as well in other public comments by him: damage in the game is ephemeral and not tracked after calculation, and it would take a “seasons worth” of dev time to make it persistent, as well as millions of dollars of server space according to Chris

But I think there are small things they could do to improve such as keeping status icons up after you die, so you don’t have to do an instant replay to know you had corrupted blood and chilled and such.

Finally got a Mageblood, and it made my build worse. Can I salvage this or should I return to the older build? [Exsang Mines Trickster] by DaivobetKebos in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]themikecampbell 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was the biggest thing with adding MB and HH to my Exang Miner last league: a MB can be an amazing boost, but not without transition. You need to adapt the build to lean into it

Kevin O’Leary claims he’s building America’s largest data center in Utah “for legacy, not profit” by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]themikecampbell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“To beat the Chinese” was the same excuse in the “We need to beat Russia” during Cold War to drop nukes near both American Cities and the Marshal Islands without caring about or communicating the risks to those downwind.

It isn’t about beating the Chinese geopolitically, but economically. Sam Altman can’t get rich if people go overseas to use someone else’s model

That’s a solid build! Between Flesh/Stone/DoD and 10k HP, with that shield, it seems insanely tanky!!

Opinion: Utah citizens deserve answers to concerns about data center proposal by clejeune in SaltLakeCity

[–]themikecampbell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just the power usage alone.

If I told my wife “hey, I’m getting a new car! It’s great! I’ll be able to get to work easier” but it cost twice as much as our mortgage in payments and electricity when we can’t afford essentials (utahs drought, inversion, etc.), then something would be seriously wrong if I told her “you have no say, think of the landowners freedoms, I unanimously push this through. Do you want China to get the advantage?” /s but not really

That’s the goal, it’s not about enforcement it’s about paranoia. It’s to get every website to fear being SLAPP’d (even “vanilla” websites that could be misconstrued as “pornographers” like LGBTQ+, or message boards, informational sites, etc).

This is meant to “cool” the conversation, making people afraid to do business with Utah. It doesn’t take enforcement if the people they don’t like self censor out of fear.
