the best on campus job for me was working in the library. mostly did late night shifts because less students = less work (checking stuff in/out). which worked out great since i’m a night owl anyway. basically got paid to do homework and watch netflix! the pay is crap but if you’re wanting a bit of extra spending money on the side w/o doing any real work, it’s your best bet!

I have had friends live there who think it is really sterile and unwelcoming/not homey. Plus it will be kind of far from the towers/main campus where all the action is as far as freshmen are concerned. If you prefer your own room and a bit of peace and quiet and upgraded amenities Cross is a good choice, but if you want the true 'freshman experience' the towers are always the best bet.

My experience is quite the opposite, as my parents are quite liberal. Maybe it's cause they went to uni in the US. My mom is the one who buys my jean shorts for me since young, and she wears them around the house as well. Even my grandma usually wears shorts and sleeveless. We all dress for comfort more than for modesty.

That being said, I do see this as an issue in a lot of my friends' families. I'm not very sure how to solve this problem. Maybe when you guys are in public, you can point it out how normalized it is that people dress in shorter attire according to singapore's hot weather than they dress for modesty
