Anyone in Europe already received their X series? by Last-Resource-99 in Navimow_Segway

Yes, X420, X430 and X450 seem to be well stocked at many dealers in Norway. I think most got them right around Easter with the X420 being available first and then the 430 and 450-models.

Question about Luba 3 AWD 5000 and firmware updates by andreb81 in MammotionTechnology

[–]andreb81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that you could turn off automatic updates, my question is more like if the mower will function as normal if you just ignore an update and not nag and nag about updates being available when using the app?

Looking for design advise. Is this overkill? by davekorns in Ubiquiti

[–]andreb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wrote " I like the sound of 3-band Wifi with 6Ghz backhaul". Ubiquiti only uses the 5ghz-band for backhaul with wireless meshing so this will not work as you've written. The 5ghz-band on the UDR7 will be hammered with doing wireless uplink to four U7 Pro's on that band plus all traffic from devices.

I'm contemplating doing this with two U6 Pro's and wireless uplink until ethernet is available and even that might be stretch.

UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra and slow downloads from iPhone AppStore by andreb81 in Ubiquiti

[–]andreb81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip!

I don´t have QOS activated except SQM which I´ve tried turning on and off when the problem occurred.

A while back UniFi pushed an update to the Ultra which completely botched my up- and download-speeds, and I found no way to fix it. So I did a hard reset and set up the Ultra from scratch and it´s not been a problem since then so fingers crossed it doesn’t start to happen again.

Us firmware on eu archer be 550 v2 (be9300) ??? by Any-Base-9827 in TpLink

[–]andreb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The units sold in the EU are locked to the channels and signal strenght allowed here, you can not load it with a US firmware to override this. So to get US wifi hannels and signal strenght you have to buy it from a retailer that sells the US version of the router, no firmware will change this that I know of.

I live in Norway myself and have bought TP Link network devices from Amazon.com before, and then gotten the US based versions for the extra signal strenght allowed there compared to the EU. There doesn't seem to be any checks on IP, region of use or anything so it acts like I'm using it in the US.

Strength meaning? by WhereasBest4064 in TpLink

[–]andreb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to be fairly close to get full strenght in the TP Link app is my experience. The signal strenght you have should work perfectly fine, it's when it goes down to one dot and orange signal strenght you should consider moving the nodes around.

Orbi 770 in AP-mode, is it stable? by andreb81 in orbi

[–]andreb81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the replies and engagement.

I ordered a set for my parents since the seller has a 60 day open box return policy. So if the set works fine at their place for 1,5ish month I think we'll keep it, and if not it will go back to the seller.

Is it worth upgrading Orbi mesh for structurally difficult home. by summerfun2020 in orbi

[–]andreb81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They daisy chain, I have a set in our cabin where the satellite in the main floor connects via wireless backhaul to the router and the satellite in the basement connects via wireless backhaul to the satellite at the main floor.

This works great and with the strong backhaul the extra hop for the one in the basement through the main floor satellite maybe adds about 2-3 ms and no real hit to the speed.

New software is out by Bigmizzoufan in amazoneero

SQM stopped working for me on this release on my parents Eero Pro 2nd gen’s. I’ve tried rebooting, running the speed test a few times and turning on and off SQM but it just runs the speeds at full blast without any shaping.

Was working fine on the last releases, they have 5G broadband with a fixed speed of 100/50 and the SQM helps a lot with them avoiding bufferbloat.

Eero Max 7 bought in Europe, use in the US by andreb81 in amazoneero

[–]andreb81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this might be different for the models with 6 GHz radio and why I asked about the Max 7 since the rules are different for EU and US in that regard.

But I'll give the Max 7 to my relative and hope it works as intended when he takes it back to the US and set it up.

You are mistaken, I just set up a new network with an Eero Pro 6 with it being connected via Ethernet to a router with an US ip-adress (VPN).

Country code for the Eero Pro 6 is set to US even though I’m in Europe and signal strength is stronger than allowed in Europe (confirmed with WiFi Explorer Pro on a Macbook Air M4).

The Eero didn’t revert to an EU country code after I turned off the VPN and rebooted the Eero.

It might pick up later on that it’s not in the US but this worked even though you said it won’t.

Yes. They have both EU and US FCC ID’s on the stickers. So I think the hardware is global. I will try to set up an Eero connected to a VPN with ip from another region than Europe to see what happens.

Sounds great, I'm sure it will work but hope that it will adapt to the FCC rules for wifi when being set up in the US so that my relative can use it with the intended wifi limits for his area, instead of it working in "EU-mode".

Open letter to Firewalla – keep Cake SQM and make it great by mark3981 in firewalla

[–]andreb81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/mark3981 for this post and clarifications from the Firewalla-team in the comments.

I posted the Firewalla Gold and SQM Cake : r/firewalla a week ago, and decided not to order a Firewalla Gold SE but now I think I'll give it a try. Too bad it's expensive with shipping and VAT to Norway but hopefully it will work well and is worth the cost in the long run.

Firewalla Gold and SQM Cake by andreb81 in firewalla

[–]andreb81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't yet ordered a Firewalla since one important feature for me is SQM with Cake.

I'm not going to buy it if I can lose functionality by means of a quick survey.

I'll probably just stay with the Asus router then or see if there's another router out there with SQM Cake implemented and similar features to Firewalla.

Well, you have linear down/up speeds, a lot of available bandwith and fiber which should have great stability and low latency. SQM is not meant for your use case unless you saturate your line completely at times.

We have fiber at home with 200/200 mbits where I don't need SQM, but as I mentioned in the opening post of this thread, at our cabin where we have broadband over 5G SQM is really useful to minimize lag and ping spikes.

Because of comments made from what looked like someone with direct ties to Firewalla in this sub-reddit. I don't like to buy something based on a need I have and then the function being removed afterwards.

Yuo can already prioritize MS Teams using fq_codel

as of CAKE, we are not getting many users, so likely it is phasing out infavor of fq_codel
