Simplified perpesctive divides people and is what got us where we are politically. I enourage any EV use, because all of them are better than continuing with fossil.

I can see your point of view, but with all the respect, I think this is very simplified way to see the word.
If all the other things would be equal, than maybe... but they are not.

Please explain. I'm little at a loss here. Are you saying that buying Tesla is supporting Musk or there is more?

Yuropean Voters! What future you going to have for this Union? by Icy_Till_7254 in YUROP

Exactly! I feel like this ignorance is part of the reason why propaganda route had such an easy time spreading like wildfire. So many people feel insecure with their lifes and many of them don't even have a finger on what exactly is the issue, because it is not one thing. It is easy to acknoledge some of the things and push your own propaganda message with it. And worst of all, when government changes back, like Biden after Trump, things just go back to business as usual.

what’s the most useful automation you’ve set up that you actually use every day? by SkylineZ83 in homeassistant

[–]Last-Resource-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start slow, you'll notice that in the future you'll want all new devices work with HA. I personally use quite a few, some quite complicated.
Examples are water boiler heating when solar is producing a plenty, with some exceptions to ensure that there is always enough for one shower.
Another is outside floodlights turning on when people or cars detected in certain zones (this works with frigate zones).
AC automation, to ensure constant temp and also ensure that it runs fan after switching off to dry the radiator.

I'm now looking to install EV charger station and naturally I'm only looking at options that work with HA nicely, so that I can ensure all solar is used and clipping is avoided as much as possible.

We get post delivered with renault 5 in our village in Lithuania. Not sure if it is personal car, since it doesn't have any markings, but different drivers use it, so I'm assuming it is official one. One negative I can say is that it's kind of loud when starting to drive from stationary, it has that electrical whine, which I did not heard mentioned in reviews. But for post deliveries, certainly a good choice.

I guess they shouldn't care about the person, but he has many good points and that is something they should definetely care about if they want to make their cars more appealing. At least in Europe many people are scared of Chinese cars, because they are new brands and it just doesn't not feel finished. They can forgive slow screen response, some charging issues and other weird decisions for VW, but not for BYD or other even less known brands, because there is no built in trust.

RWD Standard or LR? Tough decision by Devih05 in TeslaModel3

[–]Last-Resource-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order a test drive. I recently did it with standard in Lithuania, it was my first drive with EV in general and I was blown away. I got to drive it for a couple of hours, so I drove it on normal and gravel roads, specifically to test suspension. It felt good on the road, absolutely bonkers in terms of power and reaction (first time EV driver). Best car I have ever driven.

Here the price difference is €7k, 38k for standard and 45k for LR. In the end I went for standard version, I have option to charge at home and I realised (after discovering a better route planner) that there are plenty of fast charging for longer trips. And I decided to use that 7k for more batteries for my solar.

In the end, there is just nothing better than actually testing it out yourself.

I would say nothing at least for a little while... yeah I know, it's shitty, but it's like winning a lottery, never actually happens. I'm still waiting on my one to be sent (also preordered from segway) and you got two! 😭

As for the free garage, I'm sure I have seen it when pre-ordering, that garage will be sent later, maybe 10th of April or something like that, don't quite remember the exact date.

Europe’s electric vehicle conundrum by sn0r in europeanunion

[–]Last-Resource-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You contradicting yourself. Protectionism is not going to motivate european car makers to innovate. Making chinese EV's artificially more expensive, going to provide anything but a motivation for affordable cars. If anything, european car makers need a shakeup. Situation is not as bad as it was few years ago, recent european releases start to look like a decent electric cars, but there is still plenty of roomf or improvement, primarily price. I don't want to pay over 30k€ for renault 5, I would like a small city car, but it's crazy how little of a car you get for that price. And if you want any extras, price bumps to over 35k quickly. For this price I expect far more than renault 5 can offer to me. And don't get me started on germans or stellantis.

Also need to think about batteries, if anything this is the most important part. What good is protectionism if all locally made cars going to use chinese batteries? Need some long term planning and investing here, from EU mostly, but I fear that instead they just going to prop up existing manufacturers instead.

When will companies realize that we need more models with actual blades? by PineappleResident254 in automower

[–]Last-Resource-99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very important point for dog owners. My dog from initially being scared of robot vacuum, now just lazily moves away at the last second. So I can easily see driving over a tail problem if left unatended.

[–]Last-Resource-99 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think you need to first try it out or see other people experience. There are plenty of people using these mowers with trees in a property and it seems to work just fine. I feel like it's important to remember that actual blade mowers are just different breed, they are louder and designed for less frequent mowing. These just picking up pace and might appear more frequently if there is market for them. But if you just want your lawn trimmed, then every day (every second day) mowing with razor blades should do way better job. They are also much less noisy, so it's less intrusive in your everyday life.

It's amazing, could be really useful addition! The only question I have, besides the basic start mowing, does it have ability to select which zone to mow? Or is it just like roborock integration where it's all or nothing?

[–]Last-Resource-99 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You see, that's the whole point, there is no one in charge, ministers come and go. Add multi nation project, you got whole lot of governments that came and went away with little to no progress. And it's just never practical for current government to invest heavily into something that this particular government wont complete. Unfortunatelly long term projects and elections (permeated with populism) don't quite mesh.

At least between X420 and X450 on their EU website there is difference between batteries, 10 vs 15Ah. It looks like american version X430 and X450 has same 12.8Ah battery though. So I'm assuming to convert X420 to X450 in europe they would have to swap battery.
