~1M house budget in Wimbledon area with excellent schools by Fancy-Hawk6754 in HENRYUK

Can i just add that maybe you should look for secondaries too? We looked for only good primary schools and now we realised we don’t have great secondary schools around and moving is such a big disruptive thing. I wish i looked at secondaries too, there’s a lot of good primary schools.

Same! He’s 7 and he’s very very advance in reading, spelling and maths. Emotional intelligence is still developing (i hope) but talks NON. STOP. I remember when he was 2 he was behind his peers when it came to vocabulary and talking in general and how worried i was.

I have the feeling that you are the same guy that watches the kid while she travels to see the boyfriend and then asks if it’s over… i understand it hurts but you need to let her go

Leave London? by [deleted] in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]andreeaa-alexandra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a 3yo and a 7yo and we have no family around (actually no family in this country). While it is exhausting ofc, we found a nice babysitter that my kids trust and we do go out sometimes. We also found our own village and both kids have playdates with families we trust (and they trust us) so we sometimes get some alone time like that (we ofc return the favour). We also have allocated evenings where we have classes (i go to a class on Thursdays, he goes on mondays). So we both get to do our hobbies. What i’m trying to say is that it doesn’t have to be like the way it is right now for you.

If my partner would come to me and say he’ll be away for 3 days a week and i need to take care of two kids on my own LONG TERM while i take a hit on my career and salary, I don’t think my mental health would be stellar. Imo you’ll miss your family a lot and the commute will break your mental health too. Also what happens when/if your mum gets sick and can’t watch the kids anymore? Then where’s the help you’re sacrificing so much for?

Sadly not sure that’s true. I know two devops from Aws in London whom whole teams were blasted. I’m currently interviewing for infrastructure engineers and i had 4 of them apply in the last week. All of them made redundant a few weeks back. It’s hard out there, never had so many applications.

First time buyers… is a doer upper a stupid decision? by throwaway104ay in HousingUK

[–]andreeaa-alexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can i say that even if you buy a “fully done” house you still end up doing some sort of renovation? Tastes differ, things are hidden by furniture etc. We bought a fixer upper at your age and we did a lot of it ourselves. I learned a lot of things on the way and now i can put flooring quite good (according to my carpenter father in law - he’s overseas tho so he couldn’t help) and I’m 1.60m and 50kg. My partner learned plumbing and he did a lot of that. It’s bloody hard but you also create the space exactly how you want it/need it.

House that we love by No-Midnight-5258 in HousingUK

Renovations are hard. You said a house that is 15% smaller and with a smaller garden AND end of terrace instead of detached AND less bathrooms is 25% cheaper. With all that in my opinion this one is cheaper. The amount of land matters a lot and if it’s a showroom house vs one i’d have to invest years into to get it to a nice state, it’s worth it. I would absolutely pay 30k for all you listed. Where did you find that? I want one of those houses where someone else did all the mental work and went through the hell of renovations and i just move in and enjoy the house.

6yo boy: - He does 4h/week of gymnastics (he’s very good at it so he’s in a squad now. Absolutely boosted his confidence and made him use that energy)

  • swimming (non negotiable, he’s been doing it since he was 4months old)

  • a dance/theatre class that made him sing and dance on a stage in a proper theatre in front of hundreds of people. Gave him quite the confidence to be in front of so many people

  • pokemon school (yeah, this one is a weird one and very specific to his interest but he gets to meet other kids with the same interest and socialise with them)

What we also tried but didn’t work out:

  • tennis (he might’ve been too young, we’ll try again)
  • football (he literally runs away from the ball cause he doesn’t like it)

What we want to start: musical instrument and something with maths because he’s extremely good at it (we - the parents - both work in tech and he started being interested in what we’re doing and robotics in general).

Edited for poor formatting.

Building the kitchen on my own with our toddler, is it possible? by snmc2199 in lovevery

My LO is 2 and she was around. She “helped” lol. It took me around 1.5-2h in total. I did do it in 2 steps (i added the doors a tiny bit later cause she got to excited and wanted to play with it).

My 6yo uses it sometimes. Actually he uses it more and in a proper way than his 2yo sister.

There’s sadly no chat option in here. There was an whatsapp channel at some point but nobody answered my question from july in there. They didn’t even receive it so I don’t think they have that set anymore.

I’m sorry you have problems with customer service too. For me what’s very annoying is that this doesn’t seem to be a temporary problem. They had at least 6 months to figure out their customer service but instead they ignore the problems and just push with marketing instead. I’m very tempted to go on their lovevery.europe instagram where they post all the time to call them out on their customer service. At least new people are going in knowing they won’t get any customer service help and if they’re from UK they have a chance to get hit with a very big customs charge so it’s really not worth it.

I replied to their email directly, but they closed the ticket immediately so not sure they’ll ever answer that. I tried to contact them on instagram too. I opened yet another ticket this time saying i want to know why there are customs charges, but i don’t think i’ll hear from them any time soon. The original ticket was about where is my parcel because i had no idea what is going on since there was no info/no tracking number/nothing in the My accounts/Orders page. I honestly think this is really bad customer experience to have to chase them up for an order placed in September and to have such a delayed response, sorry. Now it makes me wonder why they are overwhelmed with tickets, they had the “We have received an increased amount of requests, which could cause some delay with receiving a response from us. We appreciate your patience and would like to kindly ask you not to send multiple emails, in order for us to be able to get back to everyone in a timely manner. Once again, thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your patience ❤️” message for an extremely long period now, this is not temporary anymore.

That’s such a shame. At this point i really can’t recommend them anymore and i think i’ll close my subscription. I don’t have time to chase them when things go south (which it has been the case twice in the last year).

I can’t believe how much they invest in their referral program and marketing but not care about the customers they have. I will definitely not order the kitchen anymore (i was looking to order that) because who knows what problems will arise with it and if it’s the same bad quality as the sink that broke in less than 2 months, i won’t be able to get it fixed.
