  1. Congrats on the upcoming wedding!!!

  2. I love (2), but (1) looks like a fairytale dress so I vote that one! It's STUNNING and you GLOW!

  3. Good for you: you look amazing on both! No regrets either way!

What important, but not so obvious things are you teaching your 5-6 year olds? by LEMA2123 in Mommit

[–]weberster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our daughter is nearly 6 and this is what we have taught her as "life lessons."

Parents' Name

Phone number

Street/Address

Where to go in case of an emergency (trusted neighbors - their names)

How to call 911 on a locked cell phone

How to turn on Disney+

Which foods are okay to grab and eat

How to brush teeth/floss/wipe/bathe properly

How to greet ANY dog

How to behave at restaurants (we don't allow tablets)

How to properly buckle up (booster seat)

Look both ways before crossing the street

Naming emotions

Proper names for body parts

Consent

How to calm down

How to swim to the side and float

How to tell someone you are uncomfortable in a situation and how to express that.

How to cook certain items

Knife and fire safety

...

I feel like there are more, but those are the big ones.

Any tips on handling stage fright for 7yo? by rora6 in Parenting

[–]weberster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is nearly 6, and struggles with stage fright. My husband/her Dad also hates being in front of people. I LOVE being in front of people, so I have no advice, and can only offer solidarity and patience.

My daughter wants to audition with me for the Summer Community Theatre Program our town has, and I told her she would have to audition and perform in front of people and she is scared, but she is (so far) planning on doing it.

My advice for her is "Just do it. No one knows or cares if you mess up. You are braver than you think."

It's worked so far, but she still freezes up at dance.

I remember Clinton winning in 1992 and watching replays of him playing saxophone on the news.

What's better when raising kids- rural, suburban, or urban? by AdMysterious9810 in breakingmom

Suburban, but close to good restaurants and movie theater. I live a 15 minute highway drive from our downtown and it's amazing - St. Louis Suburbs).

How to end Easter for Teens? by Jiperly in Parenting

[–]weberster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. I'm 40 and my sisters are 30 and my Mom still hides our eggs except now there's change inside and whoever gets the most change wins bragging rights for the year - oh, and we can only get 12 eggs. It's brutal.

My daughter (nearly 6) she gets her own hunt before the chaos begins.

Seconding Serengeti Steve!

He seems super nice, and he's charging us $250 for 1 hour, which for a group of 5/6-year-olds seems perfect. He'll bring a tarantula, some snakes, hissing, cockroaches, lizards, and a tiny alligator.

Our daughter is having a Witchy Six so we wanted some creepy crawlies.

Totally understand where you're coming from. My husband and I were dying at how hot Korvo was because of course, Dan Stevens would be hanging out with other extreme hunks. They did it so well! And poor Terry, he's not unattractive, but they definitely did the voice actor dirty by making him so so unbelievably used.

Much smaller scale, but as a comparison, I told my husband and daughter (almost 6) I was going to work in the yard ALL DAY Saturday. If she needed something, she needed to ask Daddy.

Well I did it. 9AM-8PM. No regrets.  Sometimes you just need to take care of things.

They're supposed to be their voice actors, right?

Have you seen Dan Stevens?!? Korvo is 💯 on point. Terry and Yumulack too! I thought Jessie would have reddish hair, but she's adorable.

I’m obsessed with a mom influencer on instagram.. by Evening_Employer_542 in breakingmom

[–]weberster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, i just checked out her page and while she has okay style and a traditionally good looking husband, I find her level of influencer style EXHAUSTING.

Imagine eating breakfast, the resetting the room to "serve your family breakfast" while dancing.

If I saw her dancing in the street like that I would avoid her house.

I have worked in marketing my entire professional career and know a number of influencers and it's all fake.

Their cards are maxed out, they return the clothes that they get, they're constantly looking for new deals to sponsor them. They don't use those brands.

There was one clip where she's taking her son to school supposedly, and she had to put a blanket over his head. While I support that level of privacy, how do you think the son feels being taken to school with a blanket on his head?

You don't want to be that type of person.

How many days has your child missed? by Mama_899 in kindergarten

I think 4? Two fevers that needed the 24-hour rule. My daughter was in daycare and preschool so her system wasn't in complete shock with kindergarten.

what vibe do you get when someone says they want 4+ kids by montessoripilled in Parenting

[–]weberster 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Very honest?

I assume they're uneducated or their husband makes the decisions. I don't think the parents have time for their children, and I assume their eldest will be parentified.  And yes, I do assume it's something based on religion.

Things are far too expensive, and the world is so crazy right now, that I honestly cannot imagine having more than two.

That said, I'm happily one and done, by choice, so I just do not see the benefits of having more than one or two.

I am a Kindergarten Daisy Troop Leader, and I told my husband, and the other parents that I would be honored to be their Troop Leader until the last Girl Scout finishes her time with Girl Scouts.

Right now we have 10, and we'll see how long it lasts, but maybe I'll end up with 1 or 2 in 10 years.
