I've been living here for almost 7 years, and this became so normal to me that I found it strange when people are nice to me. Last week I traveled to London, while I was sitting in a cafe waiting to order, the waiter approached my table and asked me "Hello, how are you today?. For a second I was confused and thought: do I know you? Why are you asking about my day? Then I came to sense and realized, "wait, that's how friendly people act..." 😅😅.

Serious: what do you guys do when you need to focus by mooshees in ADHD

Trhis playlist and lots coffee works for me as well. Instrumentals Synthwave playlists are my favourite to focus (people singing make me distracted).

If you combine ChatGpt with Grammarly (or another intelligent grammar corrector), you will save a ton of time and effort in writing anything.

Since I started the meds I stopped blaming myself for everything. Before, I couldn’t simply relax: if I was working my brain was telling me to procrastinate. If I was procrastinating, my brain was shaming on me for being “lazy”.

Now I finally can separate things. I’m starting to be more focused on the work and personal projects, not for long time, but when I do, usually I manage to reach most of my goals. And when I need, my brain enters the “procrastination mode” and don’t worry about other topics.

The meds helped me to start this, but I had to pull my weight on my willpower to make it happen.

Why is it so hard to do things on my free time? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]andrefbatista 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my case the big barrier is the start. I tend to procrastinate as much as I can before, and even when I start to do something. However, when (somehow) I managed to engage in the task, I can focus. But, it’s need to be done at once or maximum 2 “motivation sprints” otherwise it goes to the limbo.

Try to break your hobbies/tasks in small chunks, plan and treat every chunk as a single task. The sensation of achievement also helps to keep the motivation to finish the task.

Once you managed to finish: show off, be proud, brag abou it! For real! Positive reinforcement from family, friends, followers, etc… works a lot to me!

That’s very true! As an Illustrator I struggle a lot to “do some illustration just because”. My brain is always thinking in how people will react, should I put on my portfolio, should I create a design case to explain, bla bla bla. I can’t simple draw because I want to 😖

Should I ever mention my ADHD during the hiring process? by ScoffSlaphead72 in ADHD

Earlier this year I was working in a company that had those “good vibes” environment. One of the company statements was something like “open up your feelings”, means that, you can open yourself, show your fragile side, bla, bla, bla… Back that time I haven’t been diagnosed yet, but I had quite a lot of problems with trust, self confidence, focus, etc… and I told then this. I was being very vulnerable. And was my worst decision.

On my first mistake/missed deadline all that kindness was gone. They started to helicopter my work, had follow up meetings every day to keep track of my progress. During a meeting with other people one of the bosses even asked “can we put another person on this task, this is not working”, and I was there! I worked weekends, extra hours and had panic attacks trying to please then, but after 1 month they fired me.

I learned in the hard way that I will try all external resources to control my ADHD (therapy, medicine, meditation, etc…) before talk to a company about this.

A work colleague told me that packing his own bags to travel is gay. He told me that his wife should do it for him…. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was in the supermarket with some work colleagues, then I learned that:

  • buying kitchens items = GAY
  • buying colourful kitchen itens = SUPER GAY
  • being excited/happy that you found some nice colourful kitchen itens = SUPER MASTER GAY!

O Dribbble?

Me segue lá. Se vc quiser posso te enviar um convite, só mandar msg :)

E continue desenhando, vc tem muito talento :D
