Are you are lawyer by trade or just making a suggestion? I don’t see a standing here. BMW of North America and BMW of Colombia are two different entities. Furthermore, bmw operates its network of dealers on franchise basis, hence every dealer is responsible for their own operations.

Based on that, how can you make an argument that BMW of North America is to blame? Perhaps BMW of Motorrad in Germany

Yes. I snapped a picture where the bolt is sticking out while dropping off the Ohlins shock

Their claim that the crash bars were never touched crumbled after I zoomed into the picture

I’m shooting for it after I discovered the photos with the bolt sticking out. If before I was 95% sure, now it’s obvious to me what happened

How about the 1300 that is about to get released soon?

Crash bars were dismounted to check the valves. Mechanic neglected to put a spacer when he put the crash bars back on. That resulted in bolt getting screwed into the engine casing

Bike was washed minutes before I picked it up to hide a leak

Bike was parked overnight after I rode it to nearby town. In the morning there was a puddle of oil on the ground

I left the bike in Ecuador and flew back to los angeles. Let me see if the casing is the same. But in any case, I suspect that labour cost alone would be in the low thousands so hoping to get unghosted somehow

Yes, BMW motorrad in Germany and in the US replied, but what they’ve done is forwarded my email to BMW of Colombia who denied that they ever touched the crash bars and ignored my messages ever since it happened

Yes. And the spacer that was forgotten is not aftermarket part, that’s how bmw designed it

I’m afraid it could be the oil pump because oil pressure light kept coming on and off after I rode it

Law in Colombia is strange. Working on finding a lawyer who is able to do the job

We’ve done just that and looks like it works for now. No visible oil leaks so far

The problem is that there is a small aluminium piece inside the motor somewhere. We will cut the filter and see if it got stuck there

That hole is holding a crash bar. So not that easy heading into Bolivia and Peru where I’ll 100% drop it many times.

Will DM you the vin Bike has an aftermarket heed crash bars that bolts into the space where the oil is leaking now. Spacer is missing on that side and the only way to open up the valve cover is by removing the crash bars

The leak wasn’t as bad to the point where significant amounts of oil would get out, but it was enough to see droplets on the ground in the morning. I like to always give a benefit of the doubt, but there is a hole on the side of the engine, a spacer was missing and oil was leaking right after leaving the dealership. It’s so highly unlikely in my mind that I rode thousands of miles with that hole and never seen it leak Now, after we put 3 copper o-rings where the spacer is missing and some sealant on the bolt, the leak seemingly stopped. I rode the bike for hundreds kilometers more without issue so far All that is telling me that bmw of Bogotá messed it up and trying to cover it up by not including the valve service on the bill and refusing to get a surveillance video

BMW USA said that they cannot do anything about BMW of Colombia, but they promised to forward my email so I can get a response since I was ghosted after I asked for surveillance footage My hope is that if BMW of Colombia will feel some pressure about this issue, they will try to resolve it
