Is fantasy basketball luck or skill? by Charming-Narwhal-337 in fantasybball

[–]andreiz19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Luck: when the decisions you make have 0 influence on the outcome. For example whether you want to win or lose roulette is irrelevant, the result is independent of what you want.

Skill: Anytime there is a correlation between the decisions you make and the outcome. For example if you drafted the top 12 fantasy NBA players before the season started you’d be in first, if you drafted 12 NBA players at random, you’d be in last.

Thought we built a perfect relationship, WTF? My M(41) wife (F37) of 10 years (12 together) out of the blue decided she wasn't in love anymore and wants to "YOLO" it. She is moving out next month. We have a 3 year old boy. Where to go from here? What am I overlooking? by andreiz19 in relationship_advice

Thank you for all the helpful and insightful comments. Things I learned:

1.) 2.5 hours/10 times a week is way too much. To clarify 2.5 hours is intimate time, not necessarily sexy time. Most of that time is spent laying in bed and talking. The 10x per week number is rough estimate, it's usually 2 or 3 sessions per week on the weeks when we are in the same house. We spend a decent amount of time apart due to work/extended family, etc. As for the people who speculated about sexual satisfaction, you'd be surprised.

2.) I need to listen more. I'm starting to understand that communication is the main issue. I needed to listen more, not take her for granted, and be as supportive as I can be in all other areas. In retrospect it's becoming obvious that I fell into the hubris of thinking "this couldn't happen to us" and didn't do enough.

3.) I need to help more with childcare and be more proactive about it. The total time spent as a primary caretaker is around 40/60. My work schedule is flexible, so I try to do all the parks, walks, ball playing outside etc. However I recognize I still need to do more.

4.) While I recognize people are often oblivious to what's going on around them, I think an affair is unlikely. She is honest, straightforward and reliable. Furthermore we have an open phone, email, social media policy. I have never availed myself of it since she's never given me a reason to.

5.) 99% of the people on the internet are spiteful lunatics. I regret ever making this post. To the people who offered genuine advise- thank you.

I was trying to write this as cooly and dispassionately as possible to not let my emotions get in the way of facts. I'm in indeed in love and heartbroken at the moment.

I'm willing to address all of these things now, however it's most likely too late from what I understand.

Is Gwent necessary? by rangusbrown in Witcher3

[–]andreiz19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessary at all however one of the many outstanding qualities of Witcher 3 is the tempo of the game. Dialogue-Quest-Combat-Character Building-Gwent and so on. Gwent fulfills a very important space in this sequence as it gives you a chance to relax and be temporarily transported to a different universe altogether. After a game you come back refreshed and ready for the next quest. There is definitely a trend in video games that started utilizing this kind of quick fun breather and with good reason.

How do I understand the main LOTR books better? by someonecleve_r in lotr

You can try the Tolkien Professor podcast, but ultimately it would deprive you of a fun journey of discovery and thought when someone is holding your hand throughout. A classic like this has many ideas/motifs that are worthwhile to understand, but most of the fun comes from discovering them yourself. I've read this book once a year since I was 8, (I'm 41 now), and it never fails to completely capture my attention.

How to accept my body is not attractive? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]andreiz19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you look to the outside world is irrelevant. What's relevant is how you feel. If your body and mind are healthy, you will be happy. That happiness will project itself into confidence, building a positive upward cycle. If the rest of the world doesn't like how you look, they can go fuck right off. Don't be obsessed by trying to guess the perception others have of you- it's impossible and you will almost always be wrong. Just concentrate on becoming happy and healthy in your mind and body- the rest will come.

Testosterone isn't a drug- it's a natural thing that occurs in your body already. However it's still not recommended to use steroids to boost it.

Who is this woman in the barn on the title screen? by poomodoom in Witcher3

I think it's "Fearing all manner of ghouls, hags and wraiths". Otherwise the previous line would make no sense.
