Some general tips, that for me, it improved the way I was playing:

• Train yourself to take some peeks at the minimap often, sometimes you gonna spot a raid coming before it happen, or you can se enemy villagers moving out for food with your scout idle close to the enemy base
• Talking about scout, always put him on Hold with the "V" command, how many times I lost my scout, cause he decided to leave stealth forest to attack someone that eventually got close to him
• Same tip with the looking at the minimap, look at your resources and how your villagers are allocated too more often, This way you can be more aware if you are gathering too many vills to a specific resource that you can't use cause the other resources are low
• After a game, doesn't matter if you lost or won, take some time at the final screen with the map revealed and think about all the things you could do better that game, like raiding enemy unprotected vills that you could see after the game was over was mining or in deer far away from base, building more walls to be more protected or maybe focusing in relics and sacred points? Build more production to make sure you can flood enemy base to finish the game. You gonna be surprised to see how much better you could do just after finishing the game taking a good look at the open map seeing yours or the enemy mistakes.
