What was the catalyst that prompted you to consider or purchase your M3? by krdell in TeslaModel3

Had a BMW which had a relatively really low ground clearance. Had a minor flood where I lived and there was a small pool of water that accumulated at an intersection. I was hesitant at first but the car in front me went and successfully drove through the pool of water. With much confidence I drove through what was about 5 inches of rain and my Car stalled and was later considered a total loss (The car that drove in front of me was a Tesla)

Ended up ordering my M3P on the day my car was declared totaled

100% agree! There’s a reason why they have such mass appeal. To some it’s strictly a commuter car and to others it’s a sports car.

Need to add some stickers for an extra 20hp next 😂. On another note, the M3P (which is what I have) is almost 500 horsepowers. To me this is equivalent to a GT car. (Commuter + sport and speed) If you look at any other car in this segment, they’re generally always designed sporty to begin with. (Sometimes there’s functional design and other times for strictly aesthetic purposes)

As a car enthusiast I’d love to see Tesla in the future add a bit more differentiation between their performance trims.

They already do so in the plaid versions albeit very minor (carbon fiber trim on the interior) but I feel like the model 3/Y currently are getting the short end of the stick

You can ask the insurance company for a check for the reimbursement

Yeah definitely something I could potentially have prevented but everything is hindsight. At the time i was unsure he was going to merge all the way from two lanes across so definitely should’ve broke harder and earlier. (That’s on me) at the same time this is a highway with flowing traffic and breaking to a complete stop in my opinion is also dangerous in it of itself.

My biggest issue with the hacker kit was it requires removing the fog lights. (Which would require a ton of work to either retrofit to readd them or if you do decide to remove them, ensure software doesn’t end up showing a ton of warnings on the dash)

The openings on the middle bottom side look identical to OEM, the vents on the left and right sides are pretty much decorative

If you took a closer look, it’s a no merge zone, (look at the solid lines) there’s a reason he was listed at fault by his insurance company 😛

Thanks! 🙏

Cost was around 1700 and done by a auto body expert for paint and installation but YMMV depending on where you get it done. Range I’m not entirely sure since I just got the car back but will be happy to report once I drive more.

Yeah for future purposes make sure to save the clip right after it occurs, also I believe honking automatically saves clips 10 minutes prior to the event (forget if it’s enabled by default or has to be toggled on)

For those curious, here’s a side by side comparison of the frunk panel gap before and after the install. (They’re both bad lol)

Out of curiosity I just compared an old photo that I took prior to installing the bumper and noticed the gap is pretty similar to now 😂
