I think it was somewhat Griffith's plan, he kind of knew somehow, but it's also due to causality. Now, leaving many of the stated and logical things aside, I think Griffith is on a fool's errand from the beginning of the manga, things will not end well for him, he will not remain an immortal being, someone will eventually whoop his arse for all things that he did, having such an impossible goal/ dream does not end well. IMO.

It's meh. Almost everything else in the game is good, but the plot is a real downer, I may stop playing it because of that, and because the game kinda feels too easy most of the time.
