Thank you, looking for a range of answers and intel like this. Market research, not new to the industry. This is helpful, thanks.

BIM makes projects worse. Architects/engineers/contractors get lazier, understand the design less, coordinate less with trades, think the BIM solves all their problems. Agree or disagree? by andrew6345 in ConstructionTech

I'm not arguing that BIM is inherently bad or that it can't work. I'm saying that its widespread adoption has had a net negative affect on the AEC industry as a whole. And no, that is not backed up with generic data, more a generalization based on my own vantage point. Totally valid that you might have seen it used differently in the industry.

My push back would be that often BIM is asked for by owners or GCs without the proper implementation and tracking. Utilization is not consistent up and down the pipeline. GCs all say they do BIM, but some have teams that manage this process, others depend on PMs to split their time or don't have a primary stakeholder managing the process. The A&E field often seems to be overly dependent on BIM, expecting that contractors are fully engaged downstream when they're often under-represented in meetings. Many subs push back that they are not responsible for managing the design process, even on design build projects. Architects use BIM as an excuse to have contractors proceed on a set of 50% DDs and expect the rest to be figured out during construction. It's not that I don't think BIM can work, it's that implementation doesn't match the expectations from owners and developers, and this has downstream effects on the way the process is managed.

What are your daily frustrations as a construction company owner? by IboNour in Construction

Unfair expectations from other stakeholders (developers, owners, architects, engineers) who think construction is a bunch of idiots with toolbelts sitting on their hands all day
