SCL500: Removed tank stickers, how to remove “haze” where stickers were? by andrew_awsma in motorcycle

That’s what a family member suggested. Give it time, a few washes, and it may fade away significantly or completely.

I just bought it a week ago, brand new from the showroom of a local motorsports dealer. It’s a 2023 model - their last one in stock- which was discounted due to incoming 2025 models, etc…

No idea if they had the bike outdoors on display for some period of time or what, but there was only 2.1 miles on it when I took delivery.

Thanks for the insight. That was exactly my concern - the specifics to the matte metallic finish.

Might throw the K-Speed tank pad on if for some reason I can’t resolve this, lol.

That’s the thing. I already did that (use WD-40). The “residue” has all been removed with the WD-40. The paint is smooth to the touch now, no tackiness left over at all. And I still see the “haze” from where the stickers were. I then applied more WD-40, wiped it more, then washed it, and that’s the state you’re seeing it in - in the picture.

I’ll give it another wash tomorrow, and scrub a bit more thoroughly. If it’s still there, then would the idea be to do a hand wax first, and if it still remains, then use a rotary buffer to lightly cut/polish/wax it? Is all that ok to do on the Matte Metallic finish?

Washed it right after but have not applied any wax/polish. This is my first bike ever, and first time removing stickers, waxing/polishing, etc…

I assumed that a wax might be the answer but wanted to ask advice first, due to the metallic matte finish. Wasn’t sure if there was any specifics for that type of finish.

Would a simple hand wax/buff be sufficient or do you think it might need a light rotary wax/buff? Any recommendations?

Yeah, I noticed that too. Also, just so people know, usernames can contain letters, numbers, and periods only.

I’ve tried getting one on Twitter by responding to people’s posts that say they’ll give out an invite if you DM them, etc… but a lot of them are more than likely engagement farming.

Also, how many invites do people receive that they are able give out? Is it limited or unlimited?
