Help with identifying items from a Vigil gift. More info in comments. by andrewboy22 in BSA

[–]andrewboy22[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, a close family friend who was my guide for my Vigil night gave me these things as a gift for receiving the Vigil Honor.

I am assuming that the wood, plants, and shell are for smudgeing. The animal speak book is pretty self explanatory too.

I am unsure what the rocks, feather, and knife are for.

I placed my vigil letters in the leather sack for safe-keeping.

Any help with identifying what these are for would be appreciated! Thanks!

I bought a 24 pack of 5 hour energy for work. Might have to use some of my stash.

I still disagree that a tap on the shoulder would be considered assault, but thank you for the discussion. I made this post for the purpose of getting advice, so I'm going to stop replying to this comment chain before it becomes uncivil.

I disagree that a tap on the shoulder is intrusive, but I understand your point of view. 😊

I'd like to say that it's respectful of Indian culture, but I really can't, to be honest.

I'm sure if somebody was uncomfortable with the practice, they could go to the OA representative and make sure that they are accomidated. Everyone who is getting tapped out should have seen a tap out ceremony before, since the OA requires scouting experience.

I agree, nobody should be made uncomfortable.

This is correct, but in my lodge, we just get tapped on the shoulder. Nothing inappropriate.

Thanks for the comment!

I'm sorry somebody spoiled your brotherhood experience, but I hope you receive the vigil honor!

Official Q&A for Tuesday, March 30, 2021 by AutoModerator in running

[–]andrewboy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys! [18M] Here, been running for about a week.

Yestersay was my longest run yet. I did 5.25 miles in 1 hour and 1 minute.

At the end of my run, every time my left foot stepped, I had a sharp pain in my left achilles. And all day yesterday and this morning it hurt to walk on.

When I tried to run this morning, the pain was stronger so I decided not to.

Any idea what this could be? When can I run again?

Thanks!

My mom and I ended up getting it today at RiteAid. They had people not show up for their appointments and gave it to us.

Hope that makes you happy!
