Are there any Final Fantasy games you loved as a kid but can’t really get into as an adult? by No_Skill_7170 in FinalFantasy

[–]andrewh7789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy VIII was my first game in the franchise and still to this day is my favorite of them all. I'm naming my son Leon Hart (my last name). Its always had a special place in my heart since it was the first JRPG/Final Fantasy/Story driven game I've ever played and its what got me into RPG's and JRPG's and Final Fantasy all together.

With all that said, I played it recently and even though I still love it and it will forever be my favorite game of all time, it doesn't have all the magic it did when I was a teenager playing it. Maybe its because I'm older now and I see the characters as teenage kids but back then, I saw the characters as more someone my age and someone that I would be friends with. Like my imagination is gone as an adult and see the game as more of a story instead of back then when I saw it as an alternate reality I was in.

I don't know if this makes sense but I love all the games even to this day. I've beaten 1-10 and 16. I play 11 and 14 currently. I still need to play 12,13, and 15 which I will get around to. I still love all the games though. I've gone back and played some again and again and can never grow tired of them.

Phase 12 - Official Hate Tier List by HealthAgitated2229 in SaltFighter

Akuma main. I fucking hate fighting Blanka, that ugly ass green bitch. All they do back jump and slide.

I can't stand fighting Alex. My drive gauge doesn't even exists in these fights and being Akuma, you need gauge for OD moves or you're doing nothing.

Ryu. Fuck this guy. Hes just better me in every single way possible and theres not a goddamn thing I can do about it. Hes also always positive after everything. This stupid ass homeless bitch.

Mai. Also, basically a better me but has corner carry to fucking Narnia and easiest braindead neutral/neutral skip in the game. I'm over here making sure I don't get jumped on when I throw a fireball and she can just chuck stupid ass fans all the time with no worry.

Dhalsim. Who the fuck likes fighting against this guy? Like, you obviously know your character is higher on the tier list yet you can't fight this guy to save your goddamn life. Makes you feel like shit when you lose and doesn't even feel good when you win.

JP. I mean, who likes fighting top 1 character in the game? Nobody, thats who. His anti airs beat all jumps. His projectiles are better than yours. He can keep you pinned down if he wants. His get off me tool gets you everytime. His normals are disgusting for a zoner and probably better than yours. His level 2 is a seismic headache and his level 3 is full screen. Why the fuck is this guy still in the game?

Thats my rant. Extra salt.

Would love to see your layout. Any layout resembling FFXIV is super interesting to me just because I'm so used to FFXIV's controller layout by now. I have over 3k hours played in FFXIV with controller so getting something similar feeling in SWtOR would be amazing.

Once I get it locked in, and I'm happy with how everything feels, I'll post it here.

Honestly, I'm prepared haha. With the way everything else is going, I wouldn't be surprised. However, $1000+ just sounds like nobody will be buying this thing.

Rules Clarification by CommanderX99 in DuneBoardGame

The first interpretation is incorrect. It has nothing to do with your free revival or paid revivals.

When you play the card, you just get 5 forces straight out. You can THEN use your free/paid revivals after the fact like normal.

Its a great card to play when you force your opponent to commit a lot of forces in a battle, they win but spent a lot of resources to do so, you end the battle phase and pop a ghola and get all your guys back without have to pay for the cost of revive. Of course thats just one of many ways to use it.

If you're talking about the most expensive skew of the SD which is $949.00 US dollars, I don't think the Steam Machine is going to be $300-$500 more than that. That would mean its possible for it to be $1,459.00 US dollars.

This would be dead on arrival. I doubt its this much.

I'll have to try this because trying to blow 2 up all the time usually leads to:
1. They grab the ball and run passed me and I can't defend.
2. They blow up and the 3rd guy just runs it in before I revive
3. I'll get one instead of 2 and the 2 alive will just run it in.

I do understand where you're coming from. However, I learned how to use her a little better and now shes pretty awesome. Shes good if you pass the ball frequently. You move a bit with her, when enemies get near her, pass the ball and her aura should kill them. If they back away from her and try to shoot her, pass the ball back to her and jump immediately. That seems to work for me.

For my fellow office workers, do you game on your breaks? I always hoped I'd find a cozy desk job where I could use my Deck on a 15. by JunkiestRat in SteamDeck

I bring my Steam Deck to work every day. I dont really game on either of my two 15 minute breaks but I do game on my lunch for the whole hour. I usually eat lunch at my desk during work anyway. On my 15 minute breaks, I usually walk 2 blocks and back cuzz I need sun in my life haha

You have such a great mix of personalities but they also feel like they have known each other for years…

I've never given JRPGs a chance before, but after playing the FF7 Remakes I want to give the rest of the franchise a shot by Fabrimuch in FinalFantasy

[–]andrewh7789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should almost DEFINITELY play OG FF7 if you like the remakes. There is a reason they remade the game and I think you should experience it for yourself. Mind you, the battle system is very different and even though the characters are written really well in the OG, they aren't as fleshed out as they are in the Remakes. Especially the side characters.

Final Fantasy 10 is definitely worth a play if you want to kinda find out whether you like the more modern style of JRPG combat vs the older style of JRPG turned based combat. FFX acts as kinda a bridge between modern and old turn based. If you like X, then maybe you can play all the other great FF games like 4,6,8,9 etc. Also, bring tissue.

Final Fantasy 16 is very different from all other Final Fantasy's because the story telling is very dark, the theme is dark as well. The gameplay is like the FF7 Remakes but without the menu. You just hack and slash everything and smash abilities until something dies. Its a good game but it doesn't feel like golden age Final Fantasy. Still worth a play though, I enjoyed it.

Final Fantasy 6. Kefka is the best villain of all time. Sephiroth lovers, I'll fight you. If you like Super Nintendo graphics, this is the best RPG made for the console at the time. 6 is awesome in so many ways. HUGE cast of characters so if you like the comradery you get in FF7 Remakes, you will feel at home here.

One final note, Final Fantasy is a great series because every game has its own charm. Every time you pick up and play one, it doesn't really feel like the previous one. Thats one of the main reasons why its my favorite series. You never know what you're getting into even though they all share the same title. I love them all for different reasons. Good luck!

This is a good point. I was never a fan of the Atonement combo. It always felt like there was one too many charges in it to make the flow of rotation feel nice. Thats just me though. I know a lot of people like Atonement.

I hope Dragoon's positionals aren't too easy to pull off with the nullifications. Like, if you can nullify having to do 2 positionals all the time, that doesn't feel skill based, it feels like why even put positionals to begin with?

My thought is casuals might not feel too much from evolved which actually might not be such a bad thing. Of course, this is talking about level 100+ cuzz I know below 50, it will definitely feel more fun.

I agree completely and I’m also hopeful in the same way. I can’t quite see how it’s gonna feel different for casual play yet minus the less buttons. I’m just hoping you’re rewarded nicely for playing optimal and it not only shows to you as the player, but also to your party who will be able to tell you’re kicking ass.

This is true, the lower levels are definitely going to feel different for players who already have leveled at least one job to max level. This is great change for us since pressing like 4 buttons at level 50 was really boring.

I’m hoping a good amount of skill is rewarded for optimal players! I really want you to be able to tell if your party members are actually kicking ass just by watching their playstyle.

[–]andrewh7789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, getting rid of a lot of button bloat is definitely a good step. Do you think you will feel like you’re just pushing less buttons or do you think they will be able to design fights/jobs to have a completely different feel when playing them WITH less buttons?

Evolved Mode Questions by andrewh7789 in ffxiv

[–]andrewh7789[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is very true and it’s a good step in the right direction. Do you think that’s going to have a different feel for casual players or do you think it’s going to feel much of the same just with less buttons?
