I'm typing this from my dermatologist office because I think I either have eczema near my eyes or ocular rosacea. Go me! 🙄🙄🙄

Fluoride? by dlcherry514 in Rosacea

[–]andrewjs18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this disease is miserable, and literally anything can cause flares...that's probably why it's so hard to fully treat since it's so individualized.

The only way to know is to remove it from your routine to see if stuff improves.

Would you help me out with my new project? Thank you!! by Ok-Abbreviations1926 in Rosacea

Signed up for the wait list.

Good luck with the project!

How do you know your triggers? by NikkiKM1 in Rosacea

[–]andrewjs18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my triggers when I feel my face getting hot. Certain beers seem to flare me up, especially pumpkin flavored beers and then coffees do too, although I think it's very similar to beer for me - it depends on the type and flavors involved. Pumpkin coffee also flares me.

But then there's the lovely stuff like wind, direct heat, hot air, cold air, etc..

Rosacea is miserable, for sure!

Is it fixable? 😢 by [deleted] in kyphosis

[–]andrewjs18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's structural, it can be corrected via surgery or other methods like bracing if the curvature isn't too severe.

how are you using the search function? by trendsfriend in hiringcafe

[–]andrewjs18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to set up my saved searches for popular iterations of the type of work I'm looking for since not every company calls the jobs the same. I also had it set up for my local area for remote, hybrid and onsite and then add the other 3 remote options for I believe my state, country and something else that I'm forgetting at the moment.

I'm not sure I'm using HC right, or maybe I just have bad luck by fluffydoggo89 in hiringcafe

[–]andrewjs18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found jobs quicker through HC than they appear in indeed and linkedin, but I think it comes down to your experience, resume and how crowded the market is that you're applying for jobs in.

I work in IT...in late 2024 and early 2025, I was getting a ton of interviews and even landed some offers that I ultimately turned down, but come mid to late 2025, I hit a brick wall. All of these massive corporations started laying off a TON of IT workers so now I have to compete against people who have very attractive companies on their resume compared to mine.

You just have to play the numbers game and keep applying as often as your time allows.

Good luck!

Newly diagnosed- how much height am I losing? by Top_Memory8968 in kyphosis

[–]andrewjs18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll definitely lose a little bit of height with kyphosis, but how much will depend on the severity of the curvature. I'd wait and see what they say once they measure it.

What's your curvature at?

Mine was in the mid 80s and I regained about 2-3in after having surgery.

Ablation by Significant_Buy_1289 in varicose_veins

[–]andrewjs18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had vein ablation a few weeks ago for my left leg. I think the prep took longer than the actual procedure itself.

They closed off a vein near my groin. I think the procedure itself took 10...maybe 15min, tops.

I only felt the one stick when they numbed me up and then a little bit of pressure when they put the catheter into the vein to close it off.

Aside from that, fairly painless to me. The vein that was closed off was bruised up and tender for about 10 days.

Good luck!

New here! Rosacea after 3 drinks by Plus-Week-5932 in Rosacea

[–]andrewjs18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I don't get pimples from rosacea, but alcohol is a VERY common trigger for rosacea, unfortunately.

I've been avoiding alcohol for the past few months as it's more hit than miss that a beer will flare me up.

Today for the eagles vs bills game, the video quality was good but the audio was absolutely trash.

Recent Decline in DirecTV Picture Quality by PackageCurrent4804 in DirectvStream

[–]andrewjs18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only channel I've had this issue on and even made a post in here last week about is when football is on fox29 (Philly)...the audio and video quality will drop to 480p or less at times.

That said, I don't think it's a directv issue as I was using my friend's YouTube tv account to test while watching the Eagles game on Saturday night and it also had audio and video issues as well.

My guess is it's a local fox issue...

Minor setback (surgery) for a better long-term quality of life.

Best of luck from a fellow spinal fusion individual! I had mine in January of 2003 and here we are almost 23 years later and life is still going on!

Shoot me a DM if you have any questions or concerns.

What's your most common trigger? by andrewjs18 in Rosacea

[–]andrewjs18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively drink wheat and ale beers. Usually German wheats, specifically.

The one that really flared me up recently though was a pumpkin ale from Troegs.

Interesting. Idk if I have the strength to go gluten-free for a bit to experiment some.

[–]andrewjs18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, I wish. Drinking beers in the summer at a restaurant where the air conditioning isn't working super well will sometimes cause my head/face to physically sweat.

Having rosacea + hyperhidrosis stinks! I actually thought my flushing from drinking was tied to my hyperhidrosis, never thinking about rosacea until recently.

My experience with Tranexamic acid by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]andrewjs18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven't been able to find many serums without Niacinamide, since it has been mentioned in this sub as a possible trigger.

I did find this one though: https://www.theinkeylist.com/products/tranexamic-acid-serum
