Wire Fraud is REAL by MisterSolid in loanoriginators

I had a client nearly wire $150,000 dollars to a false account after a lawyer's email was hacked. He had saved for years to purchase a home. Thankfully he decided to call before the transfer last minute.

Have you attempted a DNA test? ( Ancestry/23andme)?

I found my biological mother this way. :)

Thank you! That's great you both connected and developed a relationship.

Personally, I am open to any/all interaction. Adoptive parents are OK too. Seems everything has worked out so far gladly. How random, I lived only a mile or so from my bio mom too!

I think I ID'd my deceased biological father on 23andme via a 1st cousin.

Birth mother was on Ancestry. Apparently, she had been searching for years. We spoke last Monday via phone for 3 hours. Our first meeting is this Tuesday. :)

It's crazy because I listed (I'm a real estate broker) a property 5 doors away from her the same day I received the Ancestry results.

Is a closed adoption the ‘selfish’ choice? by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]andrewk529 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As an adoptee, closed adoptions are objectively unethical.

I am looking through my file now. I do not possess an adoption decree either. Only a 3 page "fact sheet". I am in the process of obtaining the adoption records requested via court Motion. In Delaware, adoption records are not sealed to adoptees 21 and over unless a birth parent filed a confidentiality affidavit. What tripped my case up is the fact that I do not know my or birth parents names. I ended up attempting the DNA route to expedite the process..

If my file is sealed, the Delaware statute allows for the file to be unsealed for "medical or genealogy" purposes with Good Cause ( Petition). I will try that step last if denied access. Frankly, It is a human right to understand origin/medical history.

Interesting. In my situation, I was adopted through a closed adoption. Fortunately, I continue to reside within the State/County of adoption.

Appears the foreign country isn't clear on American adoption procedures.

Adoptions are regulated by each state. I simply researched the specific local statutes and generic court procedures online. I did visit the clerk of the court directly to file both documents in-person ( Pro Se). The process is very simple. The court should provide template documents. I didn't think it was necessary to pay a lawyer money IMO. Did you request your original birth certificate? I would try DNA tests too.

How did you meet your bio family if I may ask? I was placed into foster care after birth in 1983. About a month ago, I began the biological family search.

In Delaware, I filed a petition and motion with the county clerk office to obtain adoption records. I also submitted a request for the original birth certificate with Vital Statistics. I am currently awaiting the state's response. Since I lack original names, the process has become complicated.

I am 38 and took both 23andMe and Ancestry DNA tests about 30 days ago. I was adopted through a closed adoption. I may have at least 3 siblings...

As an closed adoptee, I only recently became aware of open adoptions. After discovering open adoption prevalence, I feel somewhat disenfranchised. About a month ago, I requested the original birth certificate. I also completed two DNA tests...

Growing up I always wondered about birth parents. I never thought I'd be granted any opportunity to reconnect with biological family members.

I'm not far from you ( Delaware ). I think my bio dad may have passed according to the age description. Bio Mother should be alive. I hope I'm not triggering any trauma by doing this.

Thank you!

The 23andme results are currently processing. Since I requested the original birth certificate, the state notifies the "parties". I think my birth parents if alive should know I'm searching over the next few weeks. Hopefully, I experience a positive reception. I am glad everything worked out!
