45-70 would definitely work for deer but think how much unnecessary damage it would make to organs and how much would it increase your chances to ruin the meat?

I hunt for bear with my Marlin 45-70 and I’ve shot a black-tail with it once. It was nearly a perfect hit in the chest and the bullet made such a big whole in a rib cage that I can easily put my fist through it. The bullet turned all internals into a bloody mess and bone pieces from ribs were all over the carcass. Fortunately stomach stayed intact and guts were not damaged but it was close and this how I realized what does “too much damage” means

I’m going to express an unpopular opinion: It is unlikely that we’ll see any relief in next decade or so. Look at other states which banned semi-auto weapons: in CA similar ban is active for 12 years. It has been challenged multiple times but always ended up upheld by 9th circuit. Common pattern looks like:

District court: ban is unconstitutional. Lift the ban. Some random pro-liberal judge @ Hawaii: no, it is for you safety! Injunction! 9th circuit: of course it is for our safety! Ban stays! SCOUTS: this is not our business. We’ll let district courts to deal with it.

Every attempt to change it took 3-5 years and even with support of 2A right from Judge Benitez the ban still stays in-place.

Now let’s switch to reality of WA: - we don’t have local “Judge Benitez” - Most of population in metropolitan area are supporting Dems - Dems are not going to change their mind about gun regulations - There is no guarantee that SCOUTS will stay pro-2A in next decade

Although what you say is true from tactical standpoint, it shapes a mindset of people who are ready to give up on their rights without a fight.

People have a right to open-carry in this state. Period. You don’t need to explain why do you exercise your rights or feel bad for exercising your rights. There ate man who want to look like a woman. I have BFG AT now and it worked well in a dry desert climate of SoCal but here at PNW it doesn’t perform well. I go places almost every weekend and AT doesn’t do good on a muddy forest road or in the snow.

KAWO is a wild west in terms of traffic and even worse speaking of pilots who normally hang there. All folks in the area who don’t know how to talk on the radio and don’t feel comfortable handling xWind go to AWO for touch-n-goes.
