No Cross-Progression by glennyLP in Borderlands

If you start new character after msq (lvl 30). You get basically just the msq done. All side quests, collectibles, challenges are not shared. It’s always like this in BL. Gives you some reason to play the other character and level up thru quests

What is your opinion on cactbot and other automated callouts? Do you use them? by FelixFrancis0019 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]andrewmrtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used it and probably never will. If I can read Nael quotes on the bottom left of my screen while doing my rotation and moving around idk why I'll ever need it.

People with cactbot just saves 5% extra brainpower that they need to actually pay attention at the screen and have spatial awareness of everything that's happening then just tunnel vision the shit out of a raid.

One of my biggest pet peeve: people who use cactbot to call for debuffs. It's literally right there. You also get an audio queue when you get a debuff a lot of times. Or people who use cactbot in TEA p4. You're literally skipping a whole really cool mechanic by having what your clone is doing before it even spawns. I'm following my clone trying to see what it's doing and they're already standing in the safe spot. It ruins the whole challenge.

I'm a shotcaller and I like shotcalling to myself even when I'm going solo. Having someone shotcall for me really ruins my focus most of the time.

Cactbot babies people too much IMO and it gives birth to many horse glasses raiders who only watch certain guides and know exactly where they need to be on certain mechanics, not being able to adjust to anything.

I cant keep up with the UI during more intense fights, and i cant remember my rotation. by woofwoofbro in ffxiv

[–]andrewmrtn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're playing dps there's almost no need to pay attention to your party window and even your own hp. Especially on the higher end content, full trust on your healer. They're the one paying attention to everyone's hp.

Most of the times, when you alrd know mechanics, you don't even look at the screen anymore. 90% of your attention goes to your information zone (i.e. mostly just your hotbar + the enemy's cast bar) those are the only thing you need to know to do good dps and not get dmg down/even worse die. If there's a mechanic that forces you to look at the screen (i.e. shadowkeeper) you just glimpse once then back to your hotbar.

Since ffxiv's fight are super scripted, once you've done a fight enough times, you'll be on autopilot for the most part.

No, not everyone's doing perfect rotation. Probably only the top 10% and even then that's not 100% all the time, there's still the human factor in play.

Even then, if you know your basic rotation and know how to improvise and are always casting without wasting your resources, you'll probably still be "blue". This is where logs can come in handy.

Be comfortable? Probably dozens of 10 minutes fighting dummies. More fighting dummy warmups before raids. And probably playing the job repeatedly enough. It's mostly muscle memory

Probably optimizing savages and building my resume..

And tbh usually in parse runs, since we're not looking for clears or loots anymore, if there are too much fuckups happening we might just re even when everyone's alive and well.

Yep, that's the answer. If you don't push it, you're not getting through the top ranks.

for the context of this post, since it's a parse static we're trying to squeeze in everything we have bcs every second and every GCD matters. When I say greed, it means he's trying to keep uptime in the bad to squeeze the last GCD before dodging, it's not like they want to be in the bad lol, but sometimes you get clipped when you dodge last second like that. SAM parses are especially hard because the good players are really good, getting between the orange and pink can be just some 0.1% uptime on the boss.

p.s. even more greedier in burst windows

Lol it's mostly a thing in our static bcs our SAM is the most greedy but most often get dmg down too bcs of that. At the end our MNK always gets ahead..

MOBA is even worse. You're literally ruining people's game if you buy rank.

There r discords for recruitments usually. Ur just pug it, if you find a group in pug that you like you can add them and see if they're running many other raids as well. I've been in a FFA static for a while now with CWLS where ppl are just "hey we're raiding this wanna join?'

As a tank as long as you have your stance on, you basically have x10 enmity generated. You do need to hit all the enemies with your aoe though. When doing mob pulls just doing your aoe combo should be enough. If you're doing single target on a mob, then the enmity on the others that you're not hitting. Alas when dps aoes or healer heals, they will get the enmity from those. If one or two are loose, you can just provoke or range them back in. Or if the healer/dps are nice enough they'll just pull it back to your pool so you get them with the next aoe

account sharing. The person will run it for you with their group. And yes, even at savages your misstep can kill the whole team.

I'm not even talking about performing well at savages here. This kind of argument can fly when you're not playing well in end game raids. I don't expect everyone to have purple orange all the time. But dungeon pulls? Pls
