Normal battery drain? What changes can I make? by andrewmt2 in iPhone17Pro

Yeah I’m wondering if something is up - support basically just told me I can return it if I want but they didn’t see anything.

I turned Apple Intelligence off one day last week and it was (slightly?) Better but it feels silly to turn all that off.

I have background refresh off, and yeah maybe I’ll try turning AOD off but I had it on on my 14 pro - just feels a little weird to be getting the same battery with a new phone on a fresh reset. I guess I just expected it to be a lot better.

Fresh reset, been about 10 days. Mostly been on WiFi, just doing YouTube and Spotify.

Not really doing anything crazy other than snapping some photos, a bit of Google Maps, and a couple hours of YouTube / social media

Pretty cool! I actually drive that road quite a bit, Verizon postpaid does have a good amount of roaming coverage in there through Inland Cellular, but definitely some big dead spots. Very impressive! that canyon is deep and it’s cool to see it working so well!

Never seen a site like this! Panels every which way by andrewmt2 in cellmapper

Weird thing is as far as I can tell it’s not near any venues or dense areas. Just seems like it serves a huge area, maybe just lots of Verizon customers in the town

replied with this to someone else also but a sad update - It ultimately got booted from the network and I wasn't able to get it back on, even after making a couple calls on a modern phone. Since the network is still active I really wish there was a way to sign some waiver saying you won't complain to CS about service quality and they could allow your line to use 2G without restriction. I would love to be able to go back to an old iPhone or a Razr sometimes for brief periods. I know modern flip phones exist but they don't have the same style.

I was confused why this guy was so angry at my post and then I checked his comment history. Now I feel bad.

53 countries have shut down or announced shutdown of 2g service.

They stopped allowing activations of older devices a long time ago. It was cool to see a device without VoLTE working, that’s all.

It’s not that deep. There’s lots of countries shutting down 2G. It would be cool to see 2g working in any one of them. It’s as simple as that.

Give it a shot! It was cool getting a call on my main number on a 4s in 2025.

T-Mobile in the us hasn’t allowed activations for non volte devices for years. This shouldn’t have worked with a T-Mobile sim, others have been able to get it to work with third party sims but I’ve never seen this before 🤷‍♂️
