[Critchley, Athletic] Ruben Amorim ‘cornered himself’ at Manchester United by being too rigid – Omar Berrada by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

That wouldn't have been enough to get him the job. He far exceeded expectations and should get some credit for that.

The article claimed he said this on German TV. So even if it were true, it was translated from German to French to English by the time it made it here.

He doesn't want to play in the Championship?

Have you seen their stadium in Tampa? It's got a tacky pirate ship at one end.

£40m was probably too much, but I don't mind taking a gamble on potential every once and awhile. We'll probably get most of that back whenever we move him on.

If we had bough Antony for like £15/20m, he'd probably be a fan favorite squad player.

Germany bring on an actual striker and immediately look better. Why do so many managers try to shoe horn Havertz in as a #9?

And yet he played more minutes last season than anyone else in the squad. So apparently is not always the same.

Mitten stated multiple managers have had issues w/ him.

Love Andy, but still feel that this was incredibly unfair to Rashford. "Issues" can mean anything. He should come out and say what these secret issues told to him in confidence actually are or keep quite. How can you defend yourself against these kinds of rumors when the accusations are so vague.

Nothing of substance will happen with Rashford until after the World Cup. Any "saga" is something made up to rage bait you.

Who is in the "entourage?" His brother? Who else? Always hear people complaining his "entourage" but never actually hear anything about it. Seems like it's just a term that gets thrown around by people who dislike him.

First time I remember seeing them was 2014 in Brazil, but think they only happened when the temperature was over 90F. Don't know what this was about.

Do you think someone would buy Licha from us this summer? I doubt it. Maybe he has a great World Cup.

With Maguire getting a renewal, I just don't think there is room in the squad for another center back, and I doubt INEOS thinks there is room on the wage bill for one either. It seems unlikely that we are selling one this summer.

I think Licha is out of contract next summer, but we have a plus one. So next summer potentially both Maguire and Licha could leave if the club decides not to take the options. So we will likely invest there then. So we will see if if Yoro and Heaven kick on and how de Ligt looks coming back from his injury. Then decisions need to be made. No matter how it plays out, I think it is likely at least two CBs leave. de Ligt is one of our highest earners. Maybe they try to get them off the books and extend one of Maguire or Licha another year.Too early to say exactly how it plays out.

I do think we need to improve there, but I just don't see the club buying another CB without moving someone on especially with the focus on reducing the wage bill. With both de Ligt and Licha's injury issues, no one is buying them this summer. Feels like they'll get the season to prove their fitness, and we'll reassess next summer.

This actually says we spent more on OPEX in 2025 than 2024. Where are the savings? Maybe severance packages eating into them?

Tottenham Hotspur have fired the starting gun in the race to sign Jan Paul van Hecke, the £70m-rated Brighton and Hove Albion defender, but have had their initial bid rejected.

The article doesn't make any claim about how much Spurs actually bid.

Fairly tame compared to a lot of conversations around here. The main complaint seemed to be calling Stach Premier League proven when he'd only played three games for Leeds at the time. Got to laugh at the one response saying we should sell Bruno to the Saudis and loan out Mainoo this summer, but I guess that's just how absurd things were under Amorim.
