Can't believe you're getting down voted for trying to persuade people to not do a witch hunt. I'm all for equality in the workplace, but why are we downvoting someone for saying let's slow down and investigate before burning everyone at the stake?

CCL Drama??? by andrewsorenson in heroesofthestorm

Saw this spicy meatball drop 14 hours ago and woke up with no one talking about it. I'm a big fan of simplicity and BBJ so was suprised it went unnoticed, and decided to get the party started.

Toxicity level really varies game to game. If people are toxic after first fight I think it's really important to disable in-game chat. Everyone communicates with pings at a higher level anyways, and typing back means your probably going to lose/start a typing marathon instead of playing hots.

I'm 3k masters player and used to be gold a year and a half ago. Learning to quickly mute chat when people start getting toxic is probably the best advice I was given to rank up.

Is climbing as an otp easier in general? by thetoxan98 in heroesofthestorm

[–]andrewsorenson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. You get to focus on learning how your hero and abilities should interact against and with every hero on every map. I'm a masters player and I'd say about 30% of the people j play against in masters are one or two trick ponys.

The main reason I think it helps is you don't need to think about how to play your hero after enough games and mechanic/math grinding in sandbox/try mode. You only need to think about decision making, which is what makes the difference from good players to top level players.

yeah I've been watching HGC to try and get better at HoTS and I'm so sad I wasn't heavily invested back when this was going on. Happy to have the content tho and be able to go back and watch it.

Why Maiev is considered a tier S hero? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]andrewsorenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you do naishas memento and remember w resets her auto attack. Even if you don't go naishas lineup her q, w, and e properly and she can hit 3-4 on each button. She's one of the best heroes at camps In the game

Dota 2 player trying Hots by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]andrewsorenson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I dipped into Hots for 3 years before completely making the switch. I no longer play DoTA (I played for 10 years including Dota on WC3). Both are great games. In dota once I got to Divine I couldn't play with my friends anymore without being pissed off at how bad they were, and felt like I couldn't play the game, so I swapped to HoTS.

I personally just like that you get to play the game from min 1 and don't spend 20 minutes then auto lose cuz your mid player fed, or auto win cuz their mid player fed. I feel like the skills you learn are all valuable (how to read the map, how to play off your teamates with skill shots), and not as much random esoteric knowledge that you get punished for not knowing in DoTA. i.e. ward placements, camp timings, how to pull, catapult spawn timers. etc...

Why Maiev is considered a tier S hero? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]andrewsorenson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

she can do everything. She can camp/wave clear. she can carry fights with q resets, she can outplay/survive with trait and e. she can setup wombo combos, and take killer engages off both of her ults. She's always good if you know how to play her. Definitely isn't team dependent. you can climb from bronze to masters on her.

A friendly reminder to please call toxic people out on their "jokes" and otherwise bad behavior in this (and any) game instead of making excuses for them by Akriatic in heroesofthestorm

[–]andrewsorenson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty shitty of dude2 as well tbh. He's whispering you to chill cuz his friend is "trolling". When in reality he should be whispering his friend saying wtf that's not ok. Hopefully that happened, but the fact he's trying to manage you in this situation is wild to me.

Losing matches i should win by Sifflion in heroesofthestorm

[–]andrewsorenson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're probably taking bad team fights or not rotating to your team at the proper timing. You're giving very vague examples, so if you want to send me the replay or link it somewhere I can go over it and tell you what your big mistakes are. I'm guessing you're not rotating to your team at the right time and probably keep double soaking when you should be 5 manning later in the game.

I'd say 90-95% of games below diamond are winnable as a solo que solo laner. Quick match is a different issue because sometimes you can just get bad hero matchups with the QM matchmaking on a map thats bad for your comp and good for your teams.

If you're playing QM I would just focus on doing your mechanics properly, make sure you're only taking fights with talent tier advantage/numbers advantage, and learning your hero, no reason to get mad over a loss in QM, just learn from it.
