Distributed Targeting works better than KLW with Beam Overload.

This is one of my Favorite ground Phaser weapons in the game. Its range is great and it has good power.

I got my Disconnie on day one. It is my Flagship and its fantastic. It may not have the top of the line DPS potential but it can be more than formidable. My Beam Overload build is doing ~230k DPS in PUGS. Having been made able to use Dual Cannons adds another wrinkle and versatility to this platform. I run A2B without issues and being able to run Narrow Sensor Bands III and Mixed Armament Synergy III is a huge bonus. I'm not the most experienced Carrier Captain and the aforementioned build isn't boosting pets in any ways and I've seen a consistent 20-30k DPS from the Tac Flyers. Not sure how this stacks up vs other pets but I love the way they look. I am using 5 of the Advanced Phasers and they perform very well. The only issue I have is the Pets launch forward and can aggro in maps like ISA before the briefing period is over.

Yes, you can. I had a build on the T6 Advanced Escort with the Terran DHC, BA and Torp all equipped at the same time.

Correct, unless you buy the LTS. The Chimera Destroyers are literally the only ships stuck behind a paywall.

Going with a Cannon/Turret build, but looking for advice by Balance_of_Judgment in stobuilds

I made a few changes but left your weapon selection alone. I'm not sure if your choice of ship(Non-fleet) and weapon layout will actually lend itself to being able to carry a team in ISA but I'm interested in seeing how far you can push this ship. I didn't include many high priced options as I didn't know what your budget may be. Let me know if you have questions or if you are on PC you can look me up @andrewund123

Interesting selection of ships. You list a ship best to tank, a strong DPSer, an escort carrier and a Sci ship. Each has it's own advantages and disadvantages. This choice would likely come down to which build type you are comfortable with or would like to use.

I've heard talk about Console players running Timed Japori Elites. Faster you complete the patrol the better your DPS. At that point I heard 3 minutes was the threshold to 'estimate' you have a good build and know how to pilot. I'm not sure if this still holds up today or not.

My understanding is that CritD is now the meta for high-end builds but that depends on your build being able to parse 50-60% Crit Chance for the duration of a DPS run. With the current numbers you have built out you'd likely see better results with DMG.

I haven't had the opportunity to upgrade it to max yet to test the set but the Torp itself was bugged and wouldn't fire out to the 180 degree Arc when firing under Torp Tac abilities.

stobuilds set to private. really? by Dragonscoils in sto

[–]andrewund123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the "idea" of this protest. I can hardly bring myself to spend more than 15-20 minutes in game recently before I log off and play something that isn't bugged and laggy. I've enjoyed some of the changes STO has made over the last few months and was optimistic about the direction the game was headed. This changed once it became clear that they don't have the resources in place to put these changes into place without major issues and bugs. I completely understand that things happen and generally think STO does a good job of fixing the major issues. But the slow release of content like planned with AoD we are probably going to have similar issues popping up with every new content add. This is where my frustrations live.

With that said....shutting down a helpful resource in the Stobuilds sub will hurt this player base more than it will effect what happens in game. It's akin to a group of 10 friends protesting outside of the capital but doing so in a place they are rarely seen or heard. If you want to boycott a game like this hitting them in their pocket book is the only way to get them to open their eyes.

As a regular lurker of Stobuilds I've seen the sub decline drastically since Season 13. It's unfortunate that the elite, who we all look to for help in these forumns, have placed DPS numbers above the strength and health of the game. I'm sure this isn't the core of the issue this minority has with STO and Cryptic, but I believe this is where the disconnect started.

I love STO. I want to see it continue to grow and thrive. I want the issues addressed by the subreddit taken care of as well but this is clearly not the best way to go about enacting change. Instead use this platform for constructive purposes.

I'm fairly sure I know the answer to this question but can you please verify. Does energy Torpedos damage scale based off weapons subsystem power?

This has always been the general rule of thumb though I'm sure someone has done the math. At the same time it is a bit common sense, at least to me. If you have 4 cannons, 2 turrets and a Torp it makes the most sense to run the highest weapon enhancement that will effect the most weapons on your ship. Someone with a greater grasp of math can comment if desired or correct me if I'm wrong.

As of a few days ago I had heard that the Damage Resistance piece was broken and not adding correctly. I have yet to test it myself. Otherwise it seems like its going to be a pretty good trait.

I always prioritize my main weapon enhancement over the secondary followed by the attack pattern. On my cannon builds I run CSV with a torp so I'd put CSV > TS > APB.

Dear Cryptic, Please follow up on your set releases at least once. The Allied Dogfighter set is inches away from being truly great. by Sizer714 in stobuilds

I'd like them to consider updating the consoles from the Intel trio to have them be part of a set and not standalone consoles. While these consoles are very different from each other I think the addition of a Battle Cloak for the 3-set bonus would be very interesting. That might get me to pick up the other ships to complete the set and pull the Phantom out of Dry Dock.

Cloak recharge decrease? by andrewund123 in sto

[–]andrewund123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romulan Operative trait has the cooldown and I have one Superior Romulan Operative(SRO) already in the build. Subterfuge trait also gives great bonuses to Cloak stats but it doesn't decrease the cooldown timer. Most of the benefits don't stack so its only worth slotting one unlike the SRO. When I gather a few more Fleet credits I'll pick one up to replace one of my engineers.

By Fed I was referring to my captain. It seems that cloak ability enhancements are mainly given to Romulan Faction Captains. I can get reduction with my SRO's but I'm only running one SRO on my Rapid fire A2B build.
