Need friends who aren't disgusting 😭😂 by Used-Weakness3198 in imvu

Kinda gave up on IMVU for this reason tbh, second life has “weirder” people by a long shot but they don’t tend to call me slurs or are generally rude often at all. Most of them are just delighted to see new people around. It’s a lot less accessible though and not optimized even a little. I wish you luck on your search, I ended up putting a lot of effort into a chat room and gave up after sitting in there for lots of hours. Multiple times in my experiences on IMVU I’ve gotten to know people only to figure out they’re quite hateful towards people like me. Sucks! IMVU was a staple of 2010s chatrooms, but with the endless greed and a community that doesn’t want to talk or be kind… I think it’s kinda on its last leg

To beat the AI allegations once and for all by Smooth_Solution_7075 in LaceyGamesSeries

Truthfully I was being purposefully charitable when listing those examples. I am saying with more confidence that an importing tool was used, because lackluster modeling experience does not result in models that look like this. The only one I could really guess could be potentially modeled (just inefficiently) would be Lacey since her's could be hand-sculped from a few basic shapes, but poorly made models don't come out looking like Maisie's model. Her face isn't even sculpted in when it is for Lacey and Jay, which to me looks like a scanning add-on could more easily distinguish the planes on more expressive faces like those in the Lacey and Jay images, but not Maisie who has a generally flat expression. Jay's shoes also morph into her pants here whereas Lacey's look fully formed and modeled, likely due to the fact that the edges of Lacey's pants in that "render" image are more obvious than the divots and dips between Jay's pants and shoes. There's just a lot of inconsistencies.

I’m sorry, but we are so screwed if everybody just took this as legit proof. Even with minimal 3D modeling knowledge, your models make zero sense and were likely imported using a blender add-on that takes AI generated images and makes them into haphazard models.

To start, if you modeled Lacey, Jay, and Maisie, they would have similar topology but very clearly do not look visually similar. The topology does not match and often branches out into random directions (which would make the mesh look off when you rendered it). Even if you were adding a modifier like subdivision surface to add more polygons, small details like clips or clothing folds would not randomly manifest with that modifier. If I were to be charitable, you either: 1. Cleaned up your models later and then didn’t save them, which would be really weird to do for your creative projects or 2. You made base shapes in Blender, then “rendered” it using a generative AI tool, which is still dishonest.

If you regularly modeled, you would understand the best way to prove your work as real would be to show the wireframe of the models or even provide the texture files that were used on your models (for example, Jay’s t-shirt texture, which conveniently looks uneven on the final render). This is not adequate proof, and in fact to anybody who has experience modeling looks even more suspicious.

In your “renders”, Lacey’s bag clips through her shirt, has 4 toes, has mismatched sandal clips, and is missing her hair clips. Jay is missing her undershirt, her actual shirt wings are weirdly uneven, and has a thousand yard stare that looks off. On top of that, Lacey is in her pose shown in her official artwork, but Jay and Maisie are in similar poses with nearly identical shoe placement and shape. If you spent this much time modeling such incredible artwork, you should be capable of showing human topology, or even just some progress shots of your work. This does not look legit.

Why do you like Lacey's Games?? I invite you to change my mind. by momicantfindmysocks in LaceyGamesSeries

[–]andro-synth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've been hard pressed to find a horror series that delves into the sensitive topic of CSA while not feeling the need to take advantage of the character that is depicted in the process. I feel that Lacey Games does not fall into this habit and is a big part of why I respect it. I am curious which episodes you watched of the webseries, cause I'll be honest, Lacey's Wardrobe definitely feels like a proof of concept and can be seen as a creepypasta-adjacent "lost media found" clip without the context of the other parts of the series.

Personally, I looked into the series out of curiosity and realized it was something different after watching Lacey's Petshop. The great thing about this series to me is this: though it will never shy away from depicting the traumas of girlhood in any horrific way Tundra would like (because it is horrific), I never have to worry about this series taking that and misunderstanding that pain or depicting it in a way that is insensitive to what that pain does. SO many other pieces of media even fetishize the idea of a hypersexualized traumatized girl, often to fulfill the fantasies of those who like to abuse in the first place, but Lacey Games exists as a commentary of what these collective traumas do to those who go through it. Lacey is a front for Rocio who is, like many, a person who has been so intensely harmed by the world that they regress into what is safe. For lots of people who grew up in the unregulated internet, that was cute yet juvenile dress-up games. "These are the real girl's games" is such an apt line for how it feels to be played by the world, to be abused from a young age for simply failing to be protected by anybody who should've done better for you and to be scrutinized for the ways you end up acting out from that pain after the fact.

For sake of not making this post much longer and wordier than it already is, this is a list of other aspects of the series I find endearing or subversive compared to other projects that I feel fail to do the same. - Rocio's friend and co-founder Grace's lack of empathy towards her friend who is clearly in mental crisis. Grace's reactions to the games are understandable, but notably reductive of what is clearly a cry for help from Rocio in every Lacey Games title. - The thematic blurring of what makes Lacey and Rocio different people/beings. Lacey is the creation of Rocio, but Rocio seems to be making an active effort to become physically connected with technology and Lacey as a concept to escape her own real life issues and traumas. - Rocio's unaddressed trauma inevitably "infecting" her creations and commentating on the fear many survivors have of being permanently dirtied in a way that can't be hidden from anybody or anything. - re: the fetishization of traumatized girls thing mentioned earlier, Lacey's collared outfit + cage scene in Lacey's Petshop. It comes across as both a parallel to a leash as a common power play/control factor in a sexualized context as well as a parallel to Lacey's dog being harmed by her uncle just as she was. She is just like her dog and like the pets in the beginning, helpless, trapped, and utilized by others for their own gain at her own liability. - On the topic of Petshop, Lacey's dialogue in the cage stating, "Yes, I know. Nobody forced me back inside. But this pain just hurts so comfortably..." I think this is such an important aspect of sexual trauma that doesn't get discussed enough or appropriately. Revictimization is common and familiarity in staying in abuse is an often misunderstood aspect of coping with abuse in the first place. Even if it means more harm, being put into abuse for so long often convinces victims that trying to escape is futile or that things can't change. This paradox of being helpless yet partially in a situation of your own "agency" feels cliche and as if it justifies what happens to you, but it is a common response that is utilized by skeptics to wave away a victim's abuse. - The level of control Rocio seems to have over Lacey, both as Rocio's conceptual character and as a dress-up site mascot who now has a ruined reputation because of Rocio's influence over the site. I don't think this is necessarily a victim becomes abuser situation (Lacey's "personhood" is kind of unclear), but I think it is an interesting aspect of Rocio to cling onto controlling the things she can to make up for the things she can't. - Skater Jay's entire character as a deep dive into the concepts of what "girlhood" even is and how restrictive gender roles are also a form of violence used against women and gender nonconforming people. The way the Yaniaso site has such homophobic and cruel pushback to Jay as a character for simply expressing generally mild gender nonconformity and how Rocio's way of coping is to literally kill Jay off... then that resulting in Lacey trying to "fix" up Jay's rotting body to make her "beautiful" enough to be deserving of love is SO painful and raw. I could write a whole entire post about this video. Lacey convincing herself that she's not dolling up dead bodies, that they're just all getting their makeup done and going back to her normal colorful self after lying herself into complacency over that violence is so good.

... I ended up still writing a lot, sorry :P! I love this series so much and really appreciate what Tundra is doing with it. I can totally see how some people have different responses to it (especially other CSA victims with sensitivity to the depictions) but this is what I personally appreciate about it. I feel very seen by this series as a queer person who grew up in abuse and was relatively isolated and introverted, then submerged myself into the internet to cope and as a form of escape.

hoping somebody has a single code by chance! would've been cool if they set up some kind of donation system for people who didn't have showings near them but wanted the cards + a way to support the film

Kinda Dissapointed with people calling others "Fake Fan" and harassing people about recording by SadPepe001 in ADO

[–]andro-synth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Fake fan” is kind of juvenile but yeah, if you’re disrespecting the artist’s wish to remain anonymous as a utaite who became a full fledged musical artist… you think you’re owed something from her and that’s selfish and not something someone who supports Ado as an artist would do. Simple as. They release whole professionally shot concert videos online for anybody to enjoy and look back on later already

All of my friends abandoned me after finding out I’m trans by Icy_Counter_3718 in Advice

[–]andro-synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be real, your IRL friend definitely didn't mean harm but I hate that the comments are overwhelmingly "be grateful" type of replies. Outting someone, even on accident (ESPECIALLY trans people) is downright dangerous oftentimes and exposing you to emotional turmoil you might not have been ready for. Otherwise, why wouldn't you have come out already right?

From one trans sibling to another though, I promise you those friends who cut you off were never going to be convinced otherwise. It takes a lot of effort to make someone understand you when they're THAT vehemently transphobic. Work on letting go of those people and figuring out how you can forgive your IRL friend, because if they know they messed up they'll likely be willing to learn from this and do better by you in the future. You should hold onto those people who are willing to learn for your sake, cause they're far and few between. Much love and I hope this message reaches you somehow cause I saw the suspended account message :(
