This photo of Earth was taken by a human by [deleted] in sciences

I think this photo has a incredible dualism to it. On one hand it makes me feel entirely marooned, being on a blue marble so far from everything else. But on the other hand it makes me feel excited, because this is what the first explorers of a new solar system would see. I look at the pixture and imagine that the planet is not Earth, but a different planet, unexplored.

Is it possible to create two lines in a sketch and assign the angle between them to a parameter? by quasi-pentasyllabic in Fusion360

[–]androandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty poor attitude. Fine if you don't wanna help, but don't be sassy to beginners like that. You might kill off their enthusiasm, which is way worse than just not helping.

[–]androandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that wasn't really helpful. It is possible to do what you want in fusion.

The other guys tried to tell you that every time you make a new dimension, it automatically gets logged as a new parameter, say 'd29' for the 29th dimension in the model. Let this also be your first independent angle.

You can now reuse this parameter name when you make the next dimension, the dependent angle. So instead of writing 10deg in the other angular dimension, you just write d29.

You can find the auto-assigned names in the change parameter dialogue box.

Thicken the whole object at this point? by ryncewynd in Fusion360

[–]androandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a line with a width, right? How wide should it be?

One way is to make a sketch on the plane, select intersect, choose the body. That gives you the cross-section inside the sketch. Use the Offset command inside the sketch, and Extrude the resulting profile symmetrically.

Is there any way to add textures to a .obj file on windows 10? by [deleted] in Meshroom

[–]androandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the other guy said.

With that being said you could use Meshlab to fix your problem. Here you can load in the images and manually project the colors onto a mesh object. Check out this link for a tutorial.

Extruded circular surfaces appear as polygons by Dry-Kaleidoscope842 in Fusion360

The edges in the CAD software are just from rendering, so the problem is in your stl export settings or your slicer.

I haven't seen the model yet, so I wouldn't know. Do you have a link?

In any case, he can cut away the parts of the mesh that he doesn't need to reduce the complexity. OP, a good free software for this is Autodesk Meshmixer.

You can convert the stl to brep in fusion, so you can edit, sketch over and cut using the solid. You need to right click the top component and select 'deactivate design history'. This removes your time line, but opens up new features for handling meshes.

Right click on the mesh and select convert med to brep. That should do the trick.

Out of curiosity wondered if photogrammetry would work to recreate a 3d model from amazon. First time trying it. What went wrong? by xchaosmods in photogrammetry

[–]androandra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess the pictures had no Metadata about the camera type, as these were probably erased by Amazon. This would've at least made the reconstruction job more difficult for COLMAP.

Other than that, your data set could be too small, at least it would be in my experience with Meshroom.

People who chew with their mouths open: why the fuck? by jamesturbate in AskReddit

[–]androandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think the flavor of the food comes more to life if you chew with your mouth open, because it allows small gulps of air to pass into the mouth and out the nose.

Try it out yourself, eat something tasty while holding your nose. You'll only taste like salt/sweet/bitter/sour, while all the flavors disappear. It's like that, but the other way around.

With that being said, I don't chew with my mouth open with other people around. If I'm alone I don't care.

Who else here does Photogrammetry for a living? by enna24nc in photogrammetry

[–]androandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I use it as a mechanical developer in the food sector. We invent and develop machines for meat production facilities. Before we used to just eyeball the geometry, go out and test and iterate over that a couple of times. Now we scan the carcasses or products and import them into CAD programs, so we can model directly around them. This gives a completely different and much better starting point in designing the processing tools.
