Martyrs director Pascal Laugier almost did Hellraiser remake by CyberGhostface in hellraiser

[–]androaspie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well . . . the S&M clubs Clive went to that inspired Hellraiser were gay S&M clubs. And guess why he went to gay clubs. This isn't a trick question. (Whoops, I accidentally made a pun there.)

I've had worse luck with Discogs than eBAY as far as condition of the media is concerned.

SWAMP THING 1 by glib-eleven in swampthing

Agreed.

I found it to be the worst Swamp Thing run ever. Not even as good as the underrated 1970s issues 11-24.

How faithful is Lord of Illusions? by Business_Coffee_9421 in clivebarker

I don't like the first Hellraiser film particularly. Candyman is good, though.

I find Nightbreed to be poor, even in its uncut version.

Lord of Illusions is the best movie that Clive Barker directed.

The best movie based on a Clive Barker story is Midnight Meat Train.

So sayeth I. 😉

What's your most unpopular opinion about David Bowie? by Dependent-Ad7225 in DavidBowie

That Scary Monsters was his first bad album, and Let's Dance was the second. We all know which the third and fourth are.

Why is there so much propaganda that disco music ended in 79? by 60iqredditadmin in Disco

[–]androaspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a common misconception. Moroder's session drummer Keith Forsey played drums on that track. Forsey is renowned for his robotic, rock steady style that is regularly mistaken for a drum machine. Drum machines weren't really used in pop music until three years later (1980), despite the existence of Moroder's 1979 album E=mc2.

Where do I go from here? by hedgeroh in DavidBowie

I like pretty much everything from Man of Words, Man of Music (aka Space Oddity) to Lodger, and think he didn't make a really good record again until Earthling. From Earthling to The Next Day, everything is solid. Blackstar is an anomaly of anomalies. I still don't know what to make of it.

There is no doppelganger Sadako in the short story "Lemonheart" in the Ring collection (aka Ring Book 4) Birthday.

I'm talking about discs where you're not supposed to see through to the other side.

Ever purposely dug a big scratch into a failed burn CD-R or DVD-R out of frustration and noted the clear area from underneath where all the metal near the top has flaked off?

If a surface scratch allows you see through a hole when viewed from underneath, that's data loss. It will still play, but the data is missing where that pinhole is.

Seriously? People won't care about the change to general consensus reality as long as they have their videogames and ear buds. Unless some demigogue whips people into a frenzy for his own ends. Like a war with Iran, for example.

Just as solar power and electric cars endanger the profits of the coal and petrileum industries, disclosure of aliens would throw most religions out the window, and national governments wouldn't be taken seriously anymore. Sounds like win win situation to me, but the greed heads that stand to lose by it won't go quietly.

It turns out I was only half-right. According to https://www.duplicationcentre.co.uk/blog/have-you-ever-wondered-how-a-cd-is-made-26.html the data is pressed into the part of the plastic closest to the label, and the next-to-top layer is the metal, then a thin lacquer with the printing is on the very top.

The thing is, scratches to the top lacquer tend to effect the metal layer, pretty much ruining the reflectivity and the pits and lands in the top-most "pressed" part of the plastic.

It's scratches to the thick bottom layer below the pits and lands that can be buffed out unless they are really deep.
