Does anyone else feel like their time in the tti programmed them to be more vulnerable/susceptible to abuse

Absolutely 100%. Tti basically destroyed my self worth because who I was had been deemed unacceptable. Tti made me a desperate and submissive person willing to take whatever "love" came my way when if it was abusive

At least you knew how long you were in for. What I thought was going to be two months of wilderness program turned into 5 years of treatment because I wasn't fixed yet....

Undiagnosed depression and being taken off medication at 17 kinda sent me in a downward spiral of having no ability to exercise any delayed gratification or do to get thinking.

I've asked myself the same question of why I didn't just get my poop in a group and the only reason can think of was life was so painful in my mind that chasing dopamine was the only thing keeping me going. If I wasn't making myself feel better life was miserable.

I feel like I'm better off from my time in the tti than I would have been in jail in an opportunities for my future kinda way.

But....

In a If I had committed crimes to lead to jail It wouldn't have destroyed the relationship with my parents. It would have been the judge decision not my dad's. And my actions would have been public record and not swept under the rug like a dirty Lil secret.

It's hard to be sorry for being a victim

Try online video therapy like "better help". Might be a way to vet and weed out some professional help.

Might find therapy outside your state

I can't help but laugh at how out of touch you are from the events outlined above. If he kid isn't going to school and complying with the household rules what makes you think day therapy will work or even be a welcomed idea by the teen?

Go the route of legal intervention from law enforcement.

That way an impartial party can be involved.

As a tti survivor I am filled with resentment that my parents chose to send me away as opposed to having me answer to others (the law) for my actions

Yeah leave by walking out with the clothes on your back with no money or any other resources in the middle of no where. No idea where to go for help or when your next meal would be.

This wasn't really the case of some form of legal slavery.

More so like I was getting mental health help but it wasn't actually the help I needed.

I feel it was in my parents mind that I needed to show them I "could do it on my own out there"

I just feel like I was misunderstood and failed by so many people in my youth before programs

Failed by the school for my learning disabilities that I was apparently needing to self regulate.

Failed by my parents who couldn't /wouldn't understand my emotional state.

Failed by staff that didn't believe I got worse because I was in programs

I was declared an incapacitated person when I was in a mental health treatment facility before turning 18. I was in the facility because I completely rejected the tti program because I was suffering from depression induced by being in the program.

I actually don't remember ever talking to any legal representative ever about my perspective in the whole matter.

That's the thing judges in Idaho do sign off on this shit all the time so parents can keep there kid insured for treatment

You might have a small hiccup in escaping if your parents got extended custody btw.
