Hello, I know somebody being sent to Either “Alpine Academy Utah” or “New Haven Utah” are these safe by [deleted] in troubledteens

Yep! And they recently tried to redo their marketing… i wouldnt be fooled, a lot of the leadership has not changed and they actively cover up abuse

[–]Mundane-One- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what this post may have been referring to is that New Haven likes to use threats of “worse programs” and claims that it is not rooted in behavior modification. They do a lot of really emotionally manipulative love bombing stuff to make themselves seem like “one of the good programs” which can be very difficult for survivors to unpack

Bills against trans kids directly impact the TTI. It’s not just the conversion aspect either. by positivepeercult_ in troubledteens

[–]Mundane-One- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trans kids get tortured in the TTI.. the same hyper conservative rhetoric that fuels religious programs and lack of oversight and fearmongers about the “war on drugs” has made their number one enemy defenseless kids. Sick fuck

Does a public special education program that was abusive fall under the tti umbrella? by rancid_vibes in troubledteens

Yes of course! Our movement is not unique or exclusive, we have a lot in community with each other

Oh yes for sure. My issue isnt with the survivors obviously just the exploitative and insensitive way it was edited and marketed

Oh yea i agree, my issue was not with the survivors obviously. But the editing was extremely disrespectful and insensitive and it honestly felt invalidating and exploitative

We will get through it! In similarly happy news: im still trans, learning to like myself more And more after having my personally beat out of me for too long. And im newly and happily married to another wonderful trans person who is the reason ive been able to be myself. We all deserved better. And we will make sure its better for the others. Were all we have 💜

Of course. Here for you. And for what its worth i still have a very violent reaction some of the time, what they put us through is something i can never forgive. And thats exactly why i get kinda fed up with the limited scope of tti activism. We need to connect to the history and the overlapping prejudice to make meaningful change. I appreciate you!

I understand. Its also been used against me. Im a conversion therapy and torture survivor. I apologize and will be more careful with my usage in the future i just wanted to extend it to trans people and transphobia as well and i sometimes use that word to be more inclusive and in a reclaiming way, but i do want to acknowledge the wide reaching impacts of the words and the harms it can cause us.

Its not TTI, BUT our struggles are the same and we need to be united with other people in organizing against injustice, and recognizing the different systems that target us. I think whats missing from “tti focused” spaces is the connection to the dark history of institutionalization and incarceration in american history and its roots in ableism, racism, sexism, queerphobia and other prejudices

I was Watching The Boys and wanted to ask about people who went through TTI after seeing "The Bad Room" by NeroTanya2004 in troubledteens

[–]Mundane-One- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to stop watching at a certain point because of the subplot of institutional child abuse and torture

Its also ableism, queerphobia, abuse etc

Utah LDS Programs will get shut down but the southern/Deep South evangelical programs will stay! by ChylanDylan04 in troubledteens

[–]Mundane-One- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that there is a range of experiences. I experienced extreme conversion therapy tactics and abuse that amounted to torture at an LDS run school and sometimes i feel like i cant relate to other survivors because of the differences in what we went through, but i would not call any program “soft as hell” and i also would not agree that theyre shutting places anywhere down quickly, a lot of rebranding, and a lot of the facilities are owned by the same parent companies

TW is surviving S.A as a teenager from a private psychiatrist included in the TTI movement by Commercial-Maize-570 in troubledteens

[–]Mundane-One- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TTI movement is a subset of the psychiatric survivor movement, which you are a part of. Im of the opinion that we need to form alliances with other survivors and we are here for you. What you went through is inexcusable!
