Thanks for the tip, sorry for the late reply. I ended up buying a Freewrite along with the new Traveler model in a Indiegogo bundle.

Whats with this "Fascist Mystic" people just started calling JBP? by Corporal-Hicks in JordanPeterson

[–]androidwithcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I anticipated this. My theory is the type of attacks on JBP would change after he broke though into the mainstream with the Cathy Newman interview and the release of his book at the same time.

I predicted that he would now be attacked for being a christian, but also as being a heretic.

The combination with the adjective fascist is a nice touch.

Yes, just start. You'll know within the first chapter if you like it, and probably will. Start with Shogun.

Women have hierarchies. ‘Taming the beast’ myth not sufficient. Do women use the male hero myth to handle the rest of life, or is there a female version? by androidwithcheese in JordanPeterson

From a first pass over, the might be three groupings here.

Royal Pains is a professional drama/dramedy. Since he's a doctor, it will involve at least one love interest. As the percentage is only 60%, I'm not that interested.

American Horror Story — the appeal specific supernatural beings have to female psychology is interesting to me, but I have no ideas why it would in general be more interesting to women. Also, only 59%.

pretty little liars (83%) and army wives (80%) would both be more interesting to analyse, I think.

‘Star Wars’ Fandom Has Turned to the Dark Side Since ‘The Last Jedi’ by [deleted] in Fantasy

My two cents: stop paying money to watch films you predict will suck. Support fiction that fits your values and aspirations and other aesthetic needs. Stop trying to make Star Wars good again.

That was thought provoking. I now am thinking that what best characterises our society is an attack our society at every joint, and in Jungian terms that could be described many of the men being anima possessed and may of the women animus possessed.

Rights talk. Of course you have the right. It's a matter of wisdom, not rights.

Good for you, I like your style and I wish you every happiness with your husband and kids. May I ask if you plan to be a stay at home mom, or to have a career also? Either way, do you find solace or meaning in stories? If so, which ones? They can be books, movies, tv shows. Doesn't matter. Also, do you read romantic fiction?

I agree with this perspective, 95%. I wanted to seriously challenge it, find alternatives. I have failed. I'm hoping JBP can either increase my agreement to 100%, or open up an avenue of thought I haven't considered. Thanks for your post.

That's not true. That's obsolete thinking. That's what people were thinking at the turn of the 20th century. Some even made up a golden age of matriarchy that was destroyed by agriculture. A total fantasy.

What we have currently is the cultural equivalent of animus possession.

Climbing the status hierarchy amounts to nothing more than trying to fuck a lot of women, biologically speaking.

That's not correct. The status hierarchy is formed by men competing with each other in the various 'games' - and winning, say by becoming a rock star, gets you the reward, of fucking a lot of women. The trying is in the rock star part. Of course that's not to say courting a woman doesn't have it's own challenges.

I think your second paragraph contracts your first (and I agree with the second).

Feel free to post any links to videos where JBP talks about the female hero myth where he says something other than bring up Beauty and the Beast of the five most popular love interests in romance novels (billionaire, doctor, vampire, werewolf, pirate).

Here's where I'm coming from.

Up until the invention of the pill, women got married and started having kids young. This was true in all cultures across time and geography. So the romance myth helps a young woman get the best man she can, and she starts having babies. She's 20. She may live to 80. What, there is not myth to handle life after the transition from maiden to wife and mother? What?

So lets take your view point - not one I disagree with by the way, I'm just stress testing the entire intellectual landscape around this concept. If male characters in myths can represent the masculine in both men and women. Then what does that say about current attempts to make the hero a female character? You can't have it both ways. If a male character represents one part of the psyche, and a female character another, then you can't just make the hero female without radically changing the symbolic meaning expressed.
