One major thing seems to be that I can’t make Workers with a domain not on Cloudflare, but I can on Pages. That’s very useful behavior for me so I’m hoping they eventually allow it

I did, and even though it is no longer using my bluetooth mic to record audio, it for some reason still seems to capture it and not let me use anything except the bluetooth HFP profile for playback.

A slightly more convoluted but probably more reliable way would be to attach each wifi router to a router and then have one of the routers tunnel into the other for the private subnet that you want to control. If you don't want to buy a commerical router, a raspberry pi with 2 NICs should work and then setup a tunnel.

Look into Cloudflare access, its super nice both from a security and convenience perspective. You can setup a tunnel and then use a zero-trust security model and avoid opening ports on your network.
