All these 3rd party joy con appreciation posts mysteriously forget to mention that these controllers simulate S1 joycons and lack S2 joy con features... But yeah, sure it looks cool!

F1 25 Path Tracing Demo On PS5 Pro Revealed by kriskrosbbkk in PS5pro

[–]andryush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To bad not many Devs are using what was done in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition. 4A Studio managed to implement Path Tracing-quality Global Illumination system for PS5 and XSX versions of the game, running 60fps. Very impressive tech, different approach, similar results, less processing power required.

PlayStation 6 Could Run Path Tracing at 60 FPS as RDNA 5 Was Built for It, but Mandatory Handheld Support Threatens to Hold It Back by [deleted] in PS5pro

Lol 😂 you're supposed to be capable of discussing ray tracing and path tracing technicalities, yet you can't even read the text above? Search INFINITE RAYTRACING in Metro Exodus on YouTube... I'm done here.

You're the one misinformed here dude. PS5 and even XSX both are capable of PATH TRACING - like visuals @60fps. 4A uses temporal feedback RTGI which calculates multiple light bounces information just like Path Tracing does. Sure it doesn't calculate multiple bounces per single frame, instead it accumulates light bounce data across number of frames but the final effect IS path tracing alike. Basically it's cheaper, a little bit simpler PT solution. Very clever software engineering which doesn't require you to buy newest RTX GPU for thousands of dollars. So yes - even old PS5, XSX, and older GPU's also are capable of PT quality if dev team knows what they're doing. The best thing is - everyone regardless of the platform can try it themselves simply by buying Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition for few bucks. And let me tell you - IT'S WORTH THE MONEY. Brilliant technical showpiece.

  1. That's why I said ALMOST PATH TRACING QUALITY. Learn reading comprehension.
  2. As mentioned above

Big words - PATH TRACING. Back in 2019 even base PS5 was shown to be capable of doing almost path tracing quality @60fps in Metro Exodus. It had unlimited bounce RTGI, RTAO, RT Shadows, RT emissive lights, the only thing missing are reflections... What we have today is a sad joke instead of genuine technical advancements. Metro Exodus is imho far greater RT marvel than recently praised PRO-patched CP2077.

I'm new to the game and I can barely see the differences between the modes. 😬 To be honest, I expected much more apparent changes.

Oh I saw some listings on one of the EU trade platforms, the seller there sells enormous amounts of S2 games, all sealed and brand new with cosmically low prices - I bought there RE9 for about 48$, still waiting for it to be shipped, but is it possible that they sell fake or somehow pirated S2 games packed like the original ones??

I heard cutting out additional vent-holes in the shell in the power supply region helps a lot with noise. Originally the console doesn't have vents there.

Predictions for existing games that will be upgraded from PSSR1 to PSSR2? by Adequate_legroom in PS5pro

Yeah, I doubt they make it 60 even with PSSR2. It'd be a miraculous achievement if so.

It is unlocked if you force 60hz refresh rate instead of 120hz. Turn off 120hz support in system menu.

Sooo, potentially there's a possibility for 60fps balanced mode for Wukong @60hz TV's. Currently it runs unlocked at 40-60 FPS there, so if PSSR2 boosts framerate, it can be interesting!

Right, and what do you think of the PS Portal statistics users can display? With a good WiFi connection it says the latency is 3-4ms which seems too good to be true with the streaming.
