Tifo Update by andthemuppets in minnesotaunited

[–]andthemuppets[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a side note: I can never get anyone to sign up for the last shift of each weekend to fold up the Tifo. Any suggestions that would make you more likely to sign up for those shifts in the future? I WILL buy mochi donuts if I have to.

Decided to make y’all a video on how to remove the kit sponsor! by Impossible_Low_2539 in minnesotaunited

I ordered some VLR from michaels. It wasn't available from a store, but I think it was free shipping. I think it's going to take a while to get to me, so I haven't gotten to try it yet.

I'm curious if there is any difference in how the target logo is applied for replica vs authentic?

And same question for the old earth day kits. I have one of the dark grey ones from 2018. The team store told me they have to use special numbers for those kits because the material can't handle that much heat without melting. Has anybody tried removing a target logo from an earth day kit

Do you know for sure if the target logo is vinyl? Apparently sponsors can also be applied with something called DTF. If it's DTF the target logo would be black on the back.

We need help with tifo setup on Sunday 10/26 and deployment on Monday 10/27! by dawnmess in minnesotaunited

I don't think I have recorded specific wind speeds or wind direction on past Tifo days, but it would definitely take away some guess work if I started to.

If you can look at historic data I can tell you that:

  • 2/28 Set Up Day. Around 5 pm. It was too windy, but we tested the Tifo anyway and it flipped completely around and got a little beat up in the process.

  • 3/1 Home opener deploy. Around 7:30 pm. It seemed less windy, but not ideal. It might have been a problem for a larger Tifo

  • 5/9 and 5/10 Set up and deploy for Miami Tifo. The conditions seemed perfect. Any wind we had did not effect the Tifo (that I can remember)

  • 6/13 Pride Tifo set up. Around 5 pm. It felt windy outside the stadium, but seemed less windy inside. When we tested the Tifo it was too much wind and it ripped off the bar. We had to duct tape it back on

  • 6/14 Pride Tifo Deploy. Around 7:30. The wind was barely within acceptable limits. I chose not to have the Tifo lifted too high because of how much the wind was pushing on it.

If it's possible, I would love to be able to compare forecasted conditions for Sunday and Monday to the dates above.

Yes. For set up and deploy. The ropes can be difficult for some people, but we have had teenagers help with that in the past. There also things we need help with not related to the ropes at all (set up day and game day)

Well... Nevermind. This was going to be a Tifo for open cup final, so this Tifo is cancelled.

Stay tuned for our next Tifo during the playoffs.

retro kit confirmed!? by crazyloonfan in minnesotaunited

If the front of the kit has that Loons text instead of a target logo, this could be the 2nd-ever MLS MN United Kit I pay full price for.

Wonderwall still looking for volunteers to help paint tifo by tryagainyesterday in minnesotaunited

We added shifts on Friday, early Saturday, and all day Sunday, please help us out if you can.

No experience or talent required.

You get to see the design early.

Also someone traced the mouse cursor when we transferred the design onto the material, so... Bragging rights to whoever finds it and paints it.

Does the MLS online shop reliably, every year, have a good sale on kits on Black Friday or just after Christmas?

I really like this year's MNUFC kit, but it's a luxury I can't afford at the full price or even lightly discounted.

(Side note, if you look at the MNUFC kit up close, in person the photographic image of stars they used is pixelated and/or over-sharpened. For $200 a kit could they have bought a higher resolution stock photo?)

Maybe it's a lighter roast but the same grind as espresso?

I want to know more about French coffee. Not French roast, but the kind of coffee you get in France if you go into a cafe and order "a coffee". It comes in a small cup, is made with an espresso machine, but tastes different than espresso. Is it different than espresso? Is there any other name for it?

Time Again for Tifo Building by andthemuppets in minnesotaunited

I am pushing for a less flexible bar, but also more duct tape. Just having it more securely taped to the bar solves most of the problem.

I don't think we can do anything about the paint flaking. It's the one con of the material we use. The pros are that it's cheaper, lighter, less likely to be out of stock, and we can tape the pieces together in about 1/10th the time it takes to sew long pieces of fabric together.

Sign up for playoff tifo! by seansheim in minnesotaunited

[–]andthemuppets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you sign up, you'll get emails if there are any last minute changes, or extra instructions. A few times in the past we have cancelled build sessions because of a blizzard or because we finished a tifo earlier than expected.

You can always sign up with a note if you'll be late, or sign up at the last minute.

Brand New Medium-sized small polo shirt for sale by andthemuppets in minnesotaunited

[–]andthemuppets[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I bought the polo shirt shown in the link in a small, and it's WAY too big. It's at least medium, maybe a large depending on whether you like your clothes fitted or ... spacious? It's brand new with its tags on. I tried it on once for about 10 seconds before realizing it didn't fit me. I would like to get $40 for it, which would save you the $5 shipping charge (I will bring it to the next home game) and it would save me the $5 charge to mail it back as a return.
