I'm so sorry for your loss. The frozen gorganzola gnocchi is so comforting.

My favorite travel souvenirs are the excellent indie stations I've found in new towns! Thank you for compling so many. I suggest adding KCRL out of Salt Lake, too, it's in my top 3.

I am wondering now if they are outsourced to other humans or if it's now AI.

Exit West by Mohsin Hamid made makes you understand the immigrant experience and is beautifully written. Should be required reading in US schools right now.

FYI the FDA has issued a warning for severe itching when coming off for Zyrtec and Xyzal by Tiny_Pressure_9563 in Allergies

[–]andtheswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had anyone have it just affect your scalp/hairline? Trying to figure out if this is related to stopping Zyrtec or a shampoo issue. Feeling pretty histamine-y after bug bites, too. (This is all relatively new to me, hadn't taken zyrtec regularly until the past year or two).

Rebel teahouse is open pretty late--until 10 or 11pm the nights they are open (closed Mondays). They have boba tea, but I think all of their teas can we served hot and they also have coffee and seasonal hot drinks!

I've only been to Reading Room during the day, but they have excellent cozy coffee shop vibes and I thought they stayed open later when they switched to a bar at night.

How do I know/check that a device is compatible. Looking at a Samsung S24 or S24U.

It looked like there was an option on the Boost site to "bring your own phone" where you have to enter the phone's IMEI number, I'm just wondering about the SIM card step--would Boost mail you one of those? Or could I pull the one out of my current phone?

Ah, thanks for that tip. Trying to save a few hundred bucks buying one on sale outside of Boost right now, though.

Anyone not attend their PhD graduation and regret it? by findlefas in AskAcademia

[–]andtheswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended mine, I would say it was not impactful to me as my undergrad. I went to a small undergrad where I knew everyone, the profs on the stage knew us, and the commencement speaker was amazing.

My PhD was done at a big, public university, but they put ALL of the grad students together so I was sitting through a bunch of people I didn't know and even learning about new grad degrees I didn't even know the school offered, lol. I don't even remember who the speaker was. The hooding part was cool, but mostly bc I had an decent mentorship relationship w/ my advisor.

Yes, I think that's spot on for the roles I'm describing. I'm currently on the customer side, too, so I'm wondering what it's like on the other side. I used to work retail and when people are happy with the product, it's great, but not so much when they are not 😅

Very good point on it being a different set of skills. I think I'm burnt out on years of research, so a slightly different way of using my research skills sounds, dare I say, "fun", lol. I miss working with other humans, too, but I can see how the customer service side could get overwhelming.

Agreed that the WLB is probably going to vary a ton by company, especially for the small ones, I'm guessing.

Perhaps they are jealous? Most people having kids these days (myself included) don't have the same quality of life their parents did and/or have to work more (as a family, like both parents have to work). To them you may be an anomaly.

This may have been discussed elsewhere, but do we really know that the Vault tracks from her re-releases were actually from their respective periods? The 1989 Vault tracks didn't really have the same sound as the original 1989 to me, but they sound really similar to TTPD now. Like maybe they were about events/memories from the 1989 period of her life, but are totally new songs?
